      zebrah going polyphasic!

      Hi everyone. I've decided to try and adapt to a polyphasic sleep cycle. I know many people do these polyphasic logs and most don't finish. Because I'm a dreamguide and need to consistently be on this site you know I'll keep this thread updated. You will all be able to read about my adaptation or failure.

      As far as my schedule goes because I'm a student I need to tweak the schedule a bit to fit around classes. What I post today may change as I learn more about the sleep schedule. I'm essentially doing the everyman sleep schedule but with adjusted awake times. 5 hours seems to be what most use but I'm going to do 7 and 4 hours once and 4.5 twice.

      Here is a 24 hour schedule.

      I know the naps are supposed to be 20 minutes but I'm blocking out 30 minutes to account for walking to my car and falling asleep.

      4:00 AM - 7:00 AM = core sleep (3 hours)
      7:00 AM - 2:00 PM = awake time (7 hours)
      2:00 PM - 2:30 PM = nap 1 (20 min)
      2:30 PM - 7:00 PM = awake time (4.5 hours)
      7:00 PM - 7:30 PM = nap 2 (20 min)
      7:30 PM - 12:30 AM = awake time (4.5 hours)
      12:30 AM - 1:00 AM = nap 3 (20 min)
      1:00 - 4:00 AM = awake time (4 hours)

      Nap one will need to be flexible 30 minutes either way depending on the day of the week.

      There you have it folks. I will be sleeping 4 hours every 24 hours. This means I have 20 hours to post constantly on DreamViews, be productive!

      If anyone with experience in polyphasic sleep sees huge issues in the schedule please PM me if you have the time.

      I'll give it at least two weeks. If I'm still a zombie by then I'll give in to monophasic sleep again.

      If I notice any pressing mental or physical issues while attempting this I'll be sure to stop.

      Hopefully this thread will be useful to anyone trying a polyphasic sleep schedule. It will also be fun for me to keep up writing. And maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to stick to the schedule.

      DAY 1:

      Core Sleep:

      I woke up at my scheduled time of 7 AM. I was rather tired and almost fell asleep on my couch. But after eating and turning on some bright lights I began to wake up.

      Awake Time:

      I felt nauseous during this time but that isn't unusual for me. I was alert and not tired.

      Nap 1:

      I wasn't able to fall asleep. Still getting into the schedule . I'm sure nap 2 will be a success.

      Aawake Time:

      This time I got a bit tired but nothing major

      Nap 2:

      I slept for around 25 minutes this nap. I didn't recall any dreams but feel rested.

      Awake Time:

      Not tired at all really. I don't know if I'll be able to nap.

      Nap 3:

      I wasn't able to fall asleep again. I just wasn't tired and I was a bit paranoid of the noise of my alarm.

      Hopefully I can stick it out till 4 AM.

      Awake Time:

      Well I had a bit of a failure. I fell asleep at around 2 AM and woke up at 7 AM.

      FAILURE

      Yeah yesterday I fell asleep at 10 PM. I'm going to sleep normally for a few days because I'm getting over a sickness and sleep helps. I'll still update every day on my well being.

      Hi Zebrah, any developments on your polyphasic experiment? I've just started a similar schedule, but mine goes something like this:

      core sleep: 1-4 am
      1st nap: 9 am
      2nd nap: 2 pm
      3rd nap: 7 pm

      This is my first day, so I will probably still adjust the times during the next days, but the intervals should be approximately like this.

      Try again! Don't sleep for 2 days before starting it. That way you'll be sure you will fall asleep even on your first nap.

      i am very interested by this kind of sleep mr zebra i think you should open a club or something so that it can be productive as you say in the fact that general patterns can appear from this kind of sleep by direct experimentation

      I'm on my 5th day and already failed to follow the schedule a lot of times Still, I manage to be sleeping a lot less, if I compensate missing naps with a prolongation of core sleep at night or napping at another time. I am not at all slave to the schedule, because life simply doesn't allow it. I improvise along the way. The trick is at least to try to take some naps when we can and be flexible. Maybe it won't work with everybody - I read a lot people saying that if they miss a nap they become zombie in a few hours. I fell asleep once while meditating, because I had a missed a nap the previous day. But I didn't feel zombie in any time during the past 5 days.

      Hello friends, my comments will be short cos i am typing from my mobile phone. My laptop's keyboard is not working.
      This is the first day of my adaptation to uberman sleeping pattern. I had my first nap at 12:15 a.m.
      This is my uberman sleeping schedules:
      12 a.m sleep time (for 20 minutes)
      12:20 to 4 a.m awake time.
      4 a.m sleep time (for 20 minutes)
      4:20 to 8 a.m awake time.
      8 a.m sleep time (for 20 minutes)
      8:20 to 12 p.m awake time.
      12 p.m sleep time (for 20 minutes)
      12:20 to 4 p.m awake time.
      4 p.m sleep time (for 20 minutes)
      4:20 to 8 p.m awake time.
      8 p.m sleep time (for 20 minutes)
      8:20 to 12 a.m awake time.
      i will be happy with myself if i succeed.

      I was feeling sleepy after my first nap at 12:15 a.m. This sleepy feelings subsides whenever i get something doing apart from reading books.
      i eventually over slept at 4 p.m, waked up at 6: 12 p.m and over slept at 8 p.m waked up at about 2: 00 p.m.
      i am starting all over again by 12: 00 a.m that is 3rd of Nov.

      I failed again.
      I over slept at 4a.m, from 4:10 to 5:10a.m. At 8p.m, my alarm clock chimed me up. I was not thinking clearly, so i stopped the alarm and went back to bed and found myself up at 1:15a.m (slept for 4 hours).
      To combat this problem i will try seating down to sleep instead of lying on a bed, that is at 4a.m, 12a.m and 8p.m.

      Did you go straight from a "normal" sleep schedule to Überman? Maybe you should start gradually with a byphasic or Everyman schedule. I can imagine the difficulty of doing such a radical approach as you're doing. Take it slow!
      I'm switching back and forth between 6h-core+1-nap and 4h-core+2-naps and it's been working for me. I also oversleep once in a while - like this night... - but in general I am able to keep up even without alarm clock.

      i suggest as miss mayatara says ,to go from ((6H +1.30)) TO 5H + 30 + 1.30 TO 4H + TWO NAPS
      im still att 7H + 1H30

      thank you for the advise. Its just that i need to adapt to uberman within the period of 30 days, cos i have just a month. I was pushed to the wall that is why i desire uberman so mush, i don't want to have a double mind.
      if i don't become an uberman by the first week of Dec. Something will be at stake in my life.
