A lot of you were not around when video games really became an enormous craze in 1982. I was alive, I was 10 years old, and I became obsessed with video games myself that year. The head hancho of video games then was Pac-Man, but three of the other biggest games were Asteroids, Donkey Kong, and Frogger. I just bumped into an article about a Seattle guy who broke the Asteroids world record this year. The record had been held since 1982. The guy played it for 58 hours straight to get the record. The article also mentions that the world records in Donkey Kong and Frogger were broken this year. I thought some of you might find that interesting. |

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
Probably because they felt insane records like those should have stood the test of time. Especially since no one (most people) plays those games anymore. |

I can't see these records ever being beaten at this point. I could always be wrong, but it seems like we are on the cusp of no one caring enough about beating the asteroids record enough to play for 58 consecutive hours just once, let alone all of the years of preparation it would take to get good enough to even attempt it. |
