      Post Was this a Lucid?

Hi, today I had this really strange dream that I somehow was a different person (maybe I died and this was my reincarnation) and I just felt really strange in this dream. While having this dream, I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, at first my face was blurry but then it got really clear and I could see very vividly that I was someone else, it was quite frightening because I was a lot older than what I really am and the face that I saw was really strange, it's hard to explain. But while I was looking in the mirror, I think I became lucid because I was thinking to myself that "wow! I've got to write this in my dream journal" and I had the power to get out of the dream at will and I did immediately and wrote it down, was that a lucid dream? I mean, I was aware that I just had to write this down in my dream journal and I did.

Definitely, if you aware at all that you were dreaming. Even if you only briefly acknowledge it and then forget about it. Congrats!

But next time, maybe continue on with the dream if you're lucid enough. ;D Try doing some flying or something.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Awesome, I'm finally getting somewhere. Lucid dreams are very vivid! I am even more encouraged now that I have had my first lucid to keep doing some amazing stuff, I'm glad that there's a very informative community here at Dreamviews where I can always turn to if I need some help. Thanks guys,

If you were aware in your dream that you were dreaming, then yes, it's a lucid. However, if you didn't explicitly KNOW you were inside a dream, yet had control, that does not count as a lucid dream. Having control in your dreams is a common thing to have happen to you, but lucidity is being AWARE that you're dreaming, not having control: it's possible to have a lucid dream and not have control, just as it's possible to have control and not be inside a lucid.

Ask yourself, did I actually KNOW I was dreaming? That will be the answer to your question, Astral. Keep dreaming!

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.
