First, if ya think ya can't then ya can't. Works that way for everything in dreams, think ya can and you will. To stay lucid is simple, just keep your focus. That is all being lucid is, nothing else just focus.

As for SP, ya don't need it to wild just enough focus to stay concious till the dream. I mastered lucid dreaming when i was a kid, i just never used it before. My dreams tend to be to weird even for me, so i never try being lucid.

I should try it sometime, then maybe i could get a dream i actually want.

You just have to stick with it. Dont give it up after a few failed attempts; keep on practicing and you will get it.
Regardless of what techniques you prefer, make sure you keep a dream journal. If you rely on DILDs, then pay close attention to your dreams in order to identify your dream signs and keep up with your daily reality checks.
And dont give up on the WILDs after the first few attempts; you will get it with a lot of practice and dedication. As many WILDs as Ive had, I still cant manage to do it at will. So its not going to be easy but keep at it.

If you dont remember your dreams when you wake up, spend an extra 5 minutes or so in the bed trying to remember anything about your dreams, then write anything down that comes to mind.

And about your other question, you cant WILD w/o going through Hypnagogic Imagery (HI), its what everybody goes through prior to Sleep Paralysis (SP). An yeah, sometimes it does lead to dream so try not to get too involved or you'll loose consciousness but dont fight it either. Try to keep breathing slowly, remain still/calm and let it flow.

ok, i'll do a DJ as much as i can.....but with the HI, i dont get it, thats the thing.....all i get is swirling greens, yellows, and purples....not pictures just colors....and i never get vibrations or anything related to sleep paralysis except SOMETIMES i feel like i'm rocking back and forth but i dont know wat that is exactly....

Well if you're getting the swirling colors and feel like you're rocking back and forth then that means that you're getting somewhere. The swirling colors are the beginning of HI; with time, they will form into more complex patterns and then images. Go to this link for a little more on HI.

But what happens after you see the swirling colors and feel the rocking sensations? Do you remain still or do you abandon the WILD attempt after a while?

It sounds like you're getting excited at the awareness of getting farther. This happens to me a lot even still. I think its the awareness of the fact that you're getting closer to your goal that causes this excitement. Its very hard to remain conscious and not get excited by this sudden awareness. This awareness, by itself, lets your body know that you're not asleep and hence, delays SP.
I guess the only advice I can give is to keep practicing so you get used to the feeling of it and try to be aware of but ignore whats going on. For example, when it begins to happen, continue focusing only on your breathing and remaining still while acknowledging the fact that you're getting closer. This way you can control your emotions and not let your body know that you're still conscious. Then you'll notice with every breath you take that you're getting closer and closer (the rocking sensation will begin to feel like painless, electrical currents running through your body; they will become more and more intense with every breath you take).

Yeah, it could be possible. You definitely got the right idea when it comes to counting. But I still think its the sudden awareness of the onset of HI and rocking thats sparking some excitement. Remember emotions like excitement signal to your body that you're not asleep (unconscious) nor ready to go into SP.
This is the only explanation I can think of that's causing the delay of SP. So try to acknowledge whats going on while ignoring any significant changes when WILDing.

Well, the breathing part is definitely more important, so focus on the breathing part by itself for a while, then add the counting part into your breathing once you think you've been doing it long enough.

      For example:

(Inhale)... (Exhale) "1", (Inhale)... (Exhale) "2", (Inhale)... (Exhale) "3", etc.

      You see what I mean?

Do you keep a DJ? For how long? Have you found out some dream signs?
How good is your dream recall? How vivid are your dreams usually? Do you do RCs? When/how often do you do RCs?

Sometimes people try too hard to lucid, and just taking a break and a normal few nights of sleep will set them right. Maybe you ought to do that? You could also try changing your sleep schedule or how/where you are sleeping, that helps me sometimes.

WILDs are difficult for a lot of people to do. If I were you, I would try concentrating on DILDs. But that may just be me, I've never WILDed. Anyway if you focus on DILDs, you'll at least get practice in with your dreamsigns and RCs, and at the same time become accustomed to controlling how excited you are getting and that feeling of what it is like to be in a lucid.

ummm....i haven't kept a dream journal b4 but i'll probably now....and i sometimes have amazing recall and sometimes not at all....for instance, i dreamt about being a vampire in a snowy village (ya i know, weird dream) but wen i think about the dream, i can smell the snow and coal, i can feel the sensation of flying and having superhuman abilities, then other times, there's absolutely nothing....and also, i dont seem to have any dream signs for any of the dreams i remember....it seems like i never have a similar dream.....and i do RC's probably not as much as i should but i do a lot of nose RC's throughout the day sometimes....

Definitely keep a journal. A dream sign isn't necessarily an obvious theme or object or person. It can be something like an emotion, a number, a color... so a DJ will help you figure that out
Keep it up with the RCs. You should always do at least 3, sometimes they will fail and you'll want a backup

You should write down everything. Check out this thread http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=62840

I think what most people do is take a few minutes to jot down the basics, then add details later. I prefer to do it all right when I wake up so I don't miss anything. LDing takes some time and dedication though, and it should only take 4 min max to write down your dreams, especially if you are writing them on a keyboard. If you can't, I would just run through it in your mind as many times as possible while you are getting ready. I mean, you probably don't have anything better to do while you are brushing your teeth lol
