      Tired

I am not sure if this is the right forum but I am new here and very tired of a lifetime of confusing unexplainable dreams. (almost 55 years) I never have pleasant dreams. Sometimes they start out pleasant but almost always end up frustrating. Many of them aren't even expainable other than confusing and surreal. Am I in the right forum to discuss this?
I often drift away into these dreams when doing normal things like internet surfing. It is becoming more obvious that it is much more than a state of mind or thought process, like maybe another dismension or reality where none of the laws that govern our existenence even apply. Help

Hey J.B. I understand where your coming from dream are confusing and strange most of the time. However with the help of lucid dreaming your "curse" may become a blessing. I recommend that you read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge and browse around on this site for a while especially the tutorial section. Soon you'll find that your frustratating dreams are oppertunities to forfill wishes and discover new personal insights which, in the long run, might help you find out why your dreams are this way. Good luck and stick with it.

Almost all dreams are inherently confusing and unexplainable. The mind just makes up all kinds of weird stuff while you're asleep. Most elements of most dreams are pretty meaningless. I think dream analysis is as much BS as astrology and palm reading...with the possible exception of themes that are obviously related to your real life, and even then, you don't need a dream book to figure those out. Recurring nightmares may be linked to psychological issues, but I think the interpretation of them is pretty self-evident. I dream of failing and skipping classes in school becuase I'm struggling to motivate myself to push on and finish grad school, and procrastinate like all hell. D'uh.

If you have a lot of nightmares, though, lucid dreaming and dream control might be helpful in turning those around. Since I learned how to lucid dream, I've often been able to become spontaneously lucid, or at least semi-aware and able to apply wishful thinking and get my wish to come true, during some of the scarier or less common nightmares. And confusing and unexplainable stuff can serve as dream signs, to help you become aware of the fact that you're dreaming. Bizarre things that don't even occur often in dreams are most likely to tip me off on the fact that I'm dreaming. (Lately, though, awareness of having been awake or exited a dream recently tends to be what clues me in, or first gets me suspecting.)

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.
