How often can you LD once you hone your skills?

      Hey all,
First off, I realize the people on this forum are likely to have waay more LDs than normal folks. I'm guessing people who can't LD drop off of this message board after a while(Though I'm not sure? Maybe they didn't try long enough and focus enough on it?)

Any way, I have LaBerge's book and his "Course in Lucid Dreaming" as well as a Nova Dreamer. Once one becomes adept at dream recall and the various LD induction techniques, how often can one expect to have LDs?

If there is no general estimate, how often do you all have LDs? Do you need to constantly devote lots of waking time to it? Or after long enough, does it just become as normal as dreaming?

The number's going to vary drastically from person to person, but about three a week seems average for most. Personally, my current average is about two or three lucid dreams a week. I could probably do twice as well if I had more control of my sleep cycle, but unfortunately I have to wake up early most mornings. I don't need to devote much wake time to lucid dreaming, just a few seconds to do a reality check every once in a while.

How many is normal? As serith said, it really fluctuates but it tends to be a few a week. Quite a few people seem to cap at that level.

I'm a natural LDer, and I can pretty much sleep as little or as much as I want (I'm a housewife with no kids), so I have a distinct advantage over most people.

I have been keeping a DJ for ONLY 20 days and I feel like they have been pretty normal for me, dream and sleep wise. But I might be wrong, as I said, I've only been keeping track for 20 days. In that time I've had 82 lucid dreams that I remembered. Divide 82 LDs by 20 days for an average of 4.1 LDs a night. That includes a few nights when I didn't have any LDs. I'm interested to see how the average changes or stays the same over the long run. Hopefully in a few years it will be a lot clearer.

What is normal for me isn't necessarily going to be normal for anyone else. But, yeah, it is possible to have a bunch of LDs.

Yeh i think it depends on the individual. One might put alot of their time into learning to lucid dream and master it while another indiviadual will dedicate even more time but won't have as much success.

The best way to have lucid dreams i think is to find a technique that you are able to master , though it is easier said than done.

A lot of people, regardless of experience will have good spells and dry spells. For me a good spell is every night, usually about 2-3 a night, and a dry spell, well 6 months was a VERY long dry spell!

At the moment, I average about every other day, but when I LD usually have a couple a night anyway, so works out to an average of 1 a night, even though I might go a few days without one.

And I would judge the better lucid dreamer for quality, not quantity! You should aim to have quality lucid dreams, as these are far more exhilarating than many poor short ones

I totally agree with Adam.. I would rather have one memorable lucid dream a week.. than 7 short uneventful ones.
