Convincing yourself you already know your dream

Just an idea I thought of. What if you write in your dream journal the entry for tonights dream, describing in full detail what your dream will be? What if you pretended like you already have a predetermined dream because it is already written down?

It's just crazy enough to work!

Try it and report if it works. 8)

I don't think that it's a method to create your dreams; by keeping it fresh in your mind, there's a good chance that your dream might be on the topic, but I doubt that it will follow whatever you wrote down. Moreover, you'd more than likely need to keep an active Dream Journal for this to even have a chance of working.

This is a method of dream incubation.

Wow. You've gotta have a ridiculously vivid, random imagination for this...

Heh, don't expect it to just happen like magic like that. If you have really given thought to the dream, you may get something like it. But its unlikely that you will get the same dream.

Besides, why would you want a dream where you already know whats gonna happen?

Maybe he could write down that he saw a dream sign and did a reality check.

      Thats not the problem here.

The only two ways that this could have any impact are due to placebo or the fact that the memory of what you were just imagining or thinking about could translate into your dream because it was so strong in your mind when you went to sleep. The latter is more likely but it is rather unpredictable and unlikely to be complete.

If you want to implant the memory of doing reality checks, doing something like this would be far more effective.

Sometimes when I write down a dream, I think about it to the point that the dream repeats. Sometimes this makes me lucid. I think if I can get into that mindset while writing the beginning of a dream, ie. I do a reality check, then it could help. Of course, that mindset, the one that triggers a repeat dream, will be hard to replicate and manipulate over the course of multiple attempts.
