Thread: Intense Pressure and Red Circle Forming Over Tailbone While Attempting to WILD/Astral Project

Has anybody had experience with this? Consistently after each of several attempts of either WILD or Astral Projection, there has been a tremendous buildup of heat and pressure over my sacrococcygeal ('tailbone') region. Not quite painful, but a bit uncomfortable. It always results in a large red circle right over the base of my spine/tailbone if I persist through it.

I have attempted this wearing nothing but regular, loose fitting clothing while laying on a yoga mat/ordinary mattress. There are no detectable heat sources or technologies in proximity of my body. According to Eastern Spiritual teaching, this region supposedly corresponds to the "Root Chakra".

Thoughts? Advice?

Its interesting you have said this as im able at will to purposly make the tingle intense pressure which stems from the coxicks area.....iv noticed that when on the odd occashion iv done a successful wild i have felt that tingle all over my body as i transition into a dream.
Its weird how i can do.it whenever i want and its related to the same.feel as when you transition but if i try it when going ro sleep nothing happens.....its never felt uncomfortable.tho...only if i make.it very intense...makes.me.hot and.spasm.....im gonna haveto read more.into.shakras as i can do.it at will but dont know.what to.do.with.it....dont worry tho iv been able to do it since i was little and im.still perfectly healthy =)

Interesting. Would you care to explain what you mean by "transitioning" as opposed to sleeping?

Theres a technique known as W.I.L.D (Wake Induced Lucid Dream) and in order to have a W.I.L.D you haveto teach yourself to remain aware as you go through the transition....the transition is the part where normal non lucid dreamers go from waiting to go to sleep *concious* to falling asleep *unconcious*
Alot of people can explain better than me but yeah the transition is something to read about before you do it as you will feel or hear things that may make u scared....but theres nothing to worry =)

That is what I thought you were referring to. I've had many LD's, but have yet to succeed with a WILD.

Yes, sleep paralysis. Fear can swiftly find the innocent. I learned a long time ago not to fear the phantasms of the night...

Root chakra is about survival and is blocked by fear. Maybe your subconscious mind is feeling fear while attempting WILD, or your body and mind are trying to clear up the fear getting into the higher consciousness level of dream world, therefore it's causing the heat? That is purely my assumption but first ask yourself deep within.. If it's the fear, then don't fight it, simply accept it.

I had several weak muscle cramps on my waist only while attempting WILDs as well. It wasn't a big deal, but maybe the senses are having a glitch while trying to get them immersed into the dream lol

There is no overt fear while I attempt a WILD. Based on my history with certain phenomena, it is quite unlikely that it would be playing a passive role embedded somewhere within the recesses of my psyche.

Admittedly, I have what appears to be a 'unique' situation. The details of which I have not yet determined how to effectively communicate without inciting cognitive dissonance.

A proper thread is in order with a necessary preface to outline the details of such complex circumstances.

I am surprised no-one has mentionned the possibility of Kundalini activation so far. I see from your posts that you have had some other experiences that you have not divulged, and these may be relevent.

I had a Kundalini Syndrome last year, not a full Kundalini Awakening, and experienced a very unpleasant sensation in my sacrum for weeks after which I identified as Kundalini energy. Be careful because a full unprepared rising of Kundalini energy can be dangerous, it is unbelievably powerful.

I would venture to say that my prior experiences may be relevant in a context outside of the materialist-reductionist view. I'll likely create a thread after gathering the necessary material and information to discuss what I claim to have experienced. I'll send you a PM, shortly.

My explanation is a bit more mundane and reflects my bias in "western medicine." What you describe is the classic beginnings of a Stage I pressure ulcer. It is caused by a relative lack of blood to the tissue over the sacrum from the weight of the body. Deprivation of blood to the skin and subcutaneous tissue causes both the redness and the pain. Re-positioning off the pressure point is the simple cure. Sometimes, better padding (like a gel pad or lambs wool) in an otherwise healthy person (no diabetes or cardiovascular disease) is all that is needed to resolve the issue you describe.

Not an unreasonable theory, but some facts to consider: I am not elderly nor am I bedridden. I have slept a very many times in the supine position without adverse reactions before. This sensation has only occurred once I began to attempt WILD and Astral Projection. It still only occurs during my efforts to perform either, and actually goes away after several minutes upon conclusion of my attempt, regardless if I continue to lay there or not. In terms of body composition, I would categorize myself as fit and I should reiterate that there is no pain involved, but it is certainly rather distracting.

Also, I should mention that this is a repeatable phenomenon--only during my INTENTION to LD/AP--on either the mat or pillow-top mattress that I have laid upon.

You don't have to be elderly or bedridden! Just human. Press your thumb against the pad of your index finger and hold for a moment. Notice how it blanches as the blood pressure at the capillary level can no longer overcome the physical pressure of your thumb. That's the exact phenomena going on as when you are lying supine...which eventually produced the ache you describe. The "redness" you describe is the hyperemia (compensatory higher than normal blood volume rushing into the region in response to the period of blood/oxygen deprivation). It is what you are going to see in all instances where, as here, the body part (sacral skin and subcutaneous tissue in your case) is off-loaded. You see this (and it happens) because you are now standing or rolled over (no pressure) and can visualize the locale of your discomfort.

I assure you...it is related to your position and pressure on the area.
