About Don and Dan, was the drink one of those with the flame on it?

Here's one of my favourites, it's a pretty difficult one if you've never heard it before.

Ok, so a ship comes back after a long journey, and a guy gets off and goes straight into a restaurant. He sits down, and orders albatross soup. When he receives the soup, he tastes it. He proceeds to put the spoon down, leaves the restaurant, goes out to the dock and drowns himself. Why?

Spoiler for my guess:

When he was on the boat, a shipmate died. Later they had soup and he was told it was albatross soup. Once he tasted the soup in the restaurant, he knew it didn't taste the same and realized he ate his mate.

I haven't heard this before, but I'm sure its something along these lines.
