Problem is there's a lot of people who pirate the damn thing (good morning, China&#33 so Totally Honest Americans™ have to tolerate the steps taken to combat it. And I guess when you're a huge company like Microsoft, upsetting a few users about WGA to capture pirate suppliers will be better for their bottom line. Still, it could be worse. WGA could blow up any identified installation or phone home with your information for prosecution (it does phone home, but not uniquely. It used to do it once a day but now Redmond has admitted a mistake there and is changing it to a month). If it did anything really Big Brotheresque, I'd screw the shiny and go to Linux. They do offer a discount to those caught by it. A discount product key to put in, I mean. I don't know how much better anti-piracy can get, short of being free. This is capitalism, my favourite political ideology! Deal with paying for hard work. Still, they should change: + The name "Genuine Advantage". Nobody's fooled by the name. More like anti piracy. Call it that. I prefer you to be honest. + The phoning home stuff. Do you have to phone home at all? I guess maybe. Could it be, say, three months? Or on a particular OS change? + False positives. I haven't been hit by it but people have. Frankly, that sucks. + Can we have Vista free anyway?

They're really offering discount product keys to those caught by WGA? Wow. I can go with that sort of incentive to pirate. Anyway, my current computer doesn't get a choice--it's staying with XP. I might switch it over to Linux, actually, since it's pretty useless hardware wise. But probably my next PC will wind up having to be Vista, just because I'm a gaming nut and there's going to be a lot of Vista-required games coming out soon. Halo 2 for PC's going to be that way I think...can't remember for sure. Oh well, I'll worry about it when it gets here.

you will most likely not get mine right [/b] just you watch I've actually decided that analyzing people's character in real life is HARD its the complete opposite of doing it in drama because in theatre you make the person up... instead I'm going to learn PHP and make a script that parses everybody's post and finds the ratio of +'es to -'es to figure out of they're optimistic, or pessimistic. and maybe review each event that sparked a + or a - and see if they're sadistic too.
