6-Year-Old Suspended From School Until Mom Cuts His Hair | The Stir
Administrators from the Frenship Independent School District in Texas have suspended a 6 year old because his hair violates dress code due to the fact that it reaches past his collar and earlobes.
There are two problems with this. For one, it's cultural discrimination. The child is blond but his family has kept his native American heritage alive and part of that heritage is that males do not cut their hair. Exceptions to the dress code are not uncommon in this school district and there is no reason why an exception should not be made here, either. After all, it's a violation of the first amendment. But I guess Texas doesn't understand religious freedom. Unless the target is Christmas. Seriously, if you're from Texas, you should feel bad about the place you live in. The entire state shouldn't even be real. In fact sometimes I think it's actually just a subsidiary of the Onion.
The second problem I have with this is that the dress code shouldn't have anything to do with hair length to begin with. Seriously, the fuck? It boggles my mind how children are indoctrinated into gender roles like this. Frankly I can't stand watching the way adults treat children so differently. What's the point? The only reason the kid would possibly look like a girl is because you're locked into thinking that only girls have long hair. Never mind this little study: The Truth About Hair and Why Indians Would Keep Their Hair Long -- Science of the Spirit -- Sott.net
I'm not calling that article credible, I'm merely arguing that it's at least conceivable to believe there is a practical reason to have long hair, it's not simply a fashion statement. So go fuck yourselves, Texas. And no, I'm not saying all Texans are trash or anything, it's really just the administrators of this particular school district that are to blame.
And also all Texans are trash amazing, wonderful people.
