How Fast Do You Type?

I could of sworn that this had been done before, but a search for it said it hadn't, so I decided to make it. Just out of curiousity. How fast do you type? I just took the test at TypingTest.com and my results are: - Test Name: Strategic Alliances with Competitors - Date: 2005-03-29 14:37 - Test Time: 01:00 - Gross Speed: 141 WPM - Errors: 23 - Accuracy: 83% - NET SPEED: 118 WPM[/b] So, my gross speed (before it deducts my mistakes for trying to type and listen to music at the same time) is 10 away from beating the world's fastest typist (according to a link from TypingTest.com). Go me. Although that source is probably wrong. I doubt I could break a world record. My fast speed is because I have been typing for eight years around the clock, I suppose (yes, I have had a computer since I was six. I didn't get the internet until I was ten, primarily because it wasn't sort of existent/useful at the start).

Holy shit! That's more than 2 words per second Anyway, TyperA is another place where you can test your typing skills. It gives the results as characters per minute.

Typing doing my own work I can go 60. I only managed 37 as a NET with 3 errors.

Spending at least 89% of my day on a computer, albeit not having "proper" typing skills, I have adapted to typing quite quickly. I don't know officially how fast it is, words per minute or characters, but it has turned heads before. For all intents and purposes, I failed the test because my obsessive-perfectionism compelled me to start over when I made a spelling mistake...

Damn, those English words are so much shorter than the Finnish ones. With Finnish text I got about 37 WPM, but the English text gave 78 WPM. Anyway, when I tested with characters per min, I got about 400 from both Finnish and English text. My point is just that I think it would be more accurate to compare the results as CPM than WPM as the different words really take different time to write.

I'm pretty close to the world's fastest at 201 words per minute. I typed the letter "a" 201 time in 60 seconds. Isn't that fucking incredible?! I can also type "I" just as fast. Yeah ok I really type about 40 wpm. 42 to be exact on that test thingy. And that was with my son throwing a remote control at me twice.

I already forgot what my score was, but it was in the 80s. I think I slowed down from what I used be able to type. Probably cause I started writing all my assignments instead of typing them. Kaniaz you stud, now we know why you have so many posts.

mine is averagly around 60-70 WPM, the test said 63 WPM

I became a fast typer when I played a game called "Tanarus". You learn to type fast when you're trying to both run away from the tanks shooting at you and talk to everyone at the same time. Fun, tho. I won several typing contests and the fastest recorded time I had was 93 wpm. I could probably do better, but I'm not sure what I'm at right now. It varies between how often I've been on the computer and how much word-processing I've been doing. -Aé

Something is wrong with the test for me... It keeps telling me I have 0% accuracy and bunking my score. But, I got tested a little while ago at around 80-90. Never taken typing... maybe I should. Just learned to type using a keyboard and video games I guess.... not even using the right fingers for the right keys.

I think CPM is more accurate then WPM since it depends on which test you take for the words.. heh.

I dont type very fast. Fast enough. I made shitloads of errors, NET 63. 91% acc. 67wpm without that. im taking it again cause once i start typing for a while i get faster. whatever.

w00t!!! On that test I got 56 WPM with 96% accuracy. That's really good for me, since I usually, when trying to type fast, make about 49 WPM with less accuracy. I usually make a lot of errors!

I can't type and read at the same time, its too confusing for me.But normally I average about 85 wpm. Im a good typer when typing what Im thinking and what people are saying, but thats about it.
