Well I am really new so my answers aren't very well from experience but here I go,

1. I usually don't sleep on my back though I know it would be most confortable and logical, and so dreams would be more "balanced" right brain and left brain chemical activity.
2. I usually am more relaxed in this position.....
3. I read once somewhere in Lucid Material that one of the sides, right or left, produced more lucid dreams and dream recall..I think it was the right side
4. I usually don't sleep on the left side though it really matters if my head is north or south...I like to be facing west usually though.

5. Curled....dreams seems scattered.

I have noted that I am most ALWYS lying on my back when I wake up from a lucid dream.
That is not always the case for regular dreams. It still would account for approx. 90% of them.

Back: The only way I can fall asleep like this is if I'm half sitting up too and I'm on the couch. I woke up from an LD like this once, although interestingly I didn't fall asleep that way.
Front: I've slept like this my whole life, and I almost always face the right side (shifting my weight slightly to my left). It's the most confortable.
Right: It's almost impossible for me to fall asleep like this. But I heard that sleeping on your right increases your chance of LDing, so I've been working on it. I think the majority of my LD's come from sleeping like this.
Left: Sometimes, not really.

Sleeping on the floor always suggests sleeping on the back. If I sleep on a couch I tend to sleep on my sides, and I mostly turn my back towards the back of the couch. So if I want to sleep on my right side, and the couch is facing west when I sit in it, then I'll sleep with my head to the north so that I will turn to face the west. It's hard to sleep on the floor on my sides.

Hmm..

Back: Probably when I remember most dreams, but I have a really hard time falling asleep in this position.
Front: I really...almost never sleep like this.
Left/Right Side: Don't distinguish between them since I don't really see any notable difference between them, but I definitely remember less dreams like this. Easiest way for me to fall asleep, though.

1. More dreams, but less comfortable. Often the position I wake up in though.
2. Unconfortable, but I think I've gotten a few more LD's this way.
3. The most comfortable for me, but less dreams.
4. I can never stay in that position for longer than 5 or 10 minutes, so I'm not too sure.

If I want to dream, I sleep on my back. Like Howtzer, It's been my experience (90%)that I dream when I'm sleeping on my back.
Unlike Howtzer, no lucid dreams yet.

Back - I tried sleeping on my back, but just couldnt do it
Front - It is comfortable, dream recall is average
Right - Seldom, Dream recall alright
Left - Contrary to the popular belief, left side gives me the best dream recall, and I was also sleeping on my left when I had my first LD.

1. It takes me longer to get to sleep on my back, and I generally have less recall. I only sleep on my back for WILDs.
2. Much easier to get to sleep, and more dream recall.
3. Cannot sleep on either side. Have tried and failed, my shoulders are too broad and I end up uncomfortable.
4. Same as above.

Back - like others here, most lucid dreams seem to be on my back
Front - often fall asleep on my front, but not sure I dream much?
Left - don't sleep on my left much as I'm on the right of the bed and I prefer facing the outside...
Right - often wake (and dream) from this position

Which side I sleep also depends on whether there is someone else in the bed. If I'm feeling introverted &/or wanting to sleep/ dream I tend to face away - weras if I'm feeling loved-up I face my partner.

Would also be interesting to know which compass direction you face. For the sake of science lets say that 'face' means the direction the foot of the bed is pointing to, and round it to the nearest 90degrees i.e. NESW - actually... I'll start a poll.

Sleeping Position,Dream Emotions, and Subjective Sleep Quality
Mehmet Yücel Agargun M.D, Murat Boysan M.A., Lutfu Hanoglu M.D.

This study was aimed to examine the relationship between sleeping positions, dream characteristics, and subjective sleep quality in normal subjects.Sixty-three healthy subjects (45 males and 18 females)were included in the present study.Of these participants,41 were grouped in right-side sleeping position and 22 subjects were in left-side sleeping position. The subjects were interviewed in terms of dream recall frequency, vividness, bizarreness, nightmare frequency, and dream emotions suggested by Hartmann et al.PSQI was also administered to the subjects. The rate of nightmar sufferers was significantly higher in left-side sleepers (40.9%)than in right-side sleepers (14.6%).Relief-safety was more common among right-side sleepers than the others.Global PSQI score were significantly lower in right-side sleepers than left-side sleepers. These findings suggest that dreaming and sleep quality may be affected by body posture.(Sleep and Hypnosis 2004;6(1):8-13)

Sleep position gives personality clue

If you want an insight into somebody's true personality, then try to catch a glimpse of the way they sleep.
Scientists believe the position in which a person goes to sleep provides an important clue about the kind of person they are.

Professor Chris Idzikowski, director of the Sleep Assessment and Advisory Service, has analysed six common sleeping positions - and found that each is linked to a particular personality type.

"We are all aware of our body language when we are awake but this is the first time we have been able to see what our subconscious posture says about us.

"What's interesting is that the profile behind the posture is often very different from what we would expect."

The Foetus: Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax.
This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.

Log (15%): Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.

The yearner (13%): People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.

Soldier (8%): Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don't like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.

Freefall (7%): Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don't like criticism, or extreme situations.

Starfish (5%): Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don't like to be the centre of attention.
The remainder of those in the poll said the position they fell asleep varied or did not know.

Health effect
Professor Idzikowski also examined the effect of various sleeping positions on health. He concluded that the freefall position was good for digestion, while the starfish and soldier positions were more likely to lead to snoring and a bad night's sleep. Professor Idzikowski said: "Lying down flat means that stomach contents can more readily be worked back up into the mouth, while those who lie on their back may end up snoring and breathing less well during the night. "Both these postures may not necessarily awaken the sleeper but could cause a less refreshing night's sleep."

The research also found that most people are unlikely to change their sleeping position. Just 5% said they sleep in a different position every night.

Duvet position
Professor Idzikowski also found that one arm or leg sticking out of the duvet is Britain's most common position, followed by both feet poking out the end. One in ten people like to cover themselves entirely with the duvet.

I think that sleeping a different way than what you normally sleep in is very important to LDs. I really think that if you break your normal pattern, it will happen more readily. I sleep on my front normally. I always have, and it's most comfy for me. But, when I sleep on my back, I can better recall my dreams and I have more of a chance of LDing.

I sleep in different positions every night. Perhaps if I conducted some research on my sleepoing positions I could find what works best (for me, anyway) to induce Lucid Dreams.

I too sleep in different positions every night.
I am able to achieve a state of sleep paralysis with self-induced-hypnosis, so I suppose I sleep on my back more often than not. But I agree with the digestion point, as I am a biologist.

1. I never fall asleep this way unless I'm ill. I very often wake up this way though, especially if I'm woken during a dream.
2. I never ever sleep this way.
3. I mainly sleep this way. I often have the most vivid dreams like this.
4. I rarely sleep this way. Usually don't recall dreams very well if I lie this way.

1. I rarely sleep like this, usually when I try to WILD.
2. This is the way I fall asleep easiest, my recall seems ok though.
3. I sometimes sleep like this, mostly because i like facing the wall.
4. I never sleep on my left.

1. 93% +/- of the time - I have most if not all my LD's this way.
2. 5% +/- << I normally only choose
3. 2% +/- << these positions if I'm
4. 2% +/- << really fatigued.

I don't really know if any other positions are a plus or minus for LD's considering I almost always wake up on my back. I couldn't tell you which way my head faces, I assume it changes throughout the night.

1. on back...I rarely sleep on my back. When I do, it's usually after a sleep binge (9 or so hours of sleep). I wake up with my arms over my head in a "touchdown" signal.
2. on front...Never
3. right...Almost always sleep on my right. I LD, have SP attacks, and have vivid non-LDs on my right side.
4. left...Never. Neck pain keep me from sleeping on my left.

Be careful sleeping with your arms up, it tends to pull your ribs out of position.

I can only fall asleep (unless I've had some assistance with sleeping pills) on my stomach. I'm not 100% on my stomach but maybe like 85% with my leg out all funny. I try so hard to sleep in other positions because it hurts my back, but it never works.
