Why is being gay a sin?? What does the almighty have against people's specific interests??
Because the writers of the bible had something against it for some reason. Oddly enough, the only homosexual activities singled out in the old testament are between two males. Curiously, two hot women getting it on wasn't prohibited.
Why would you ask such question? You phrased it as if it was a fact.
You won't get a decent answer from a christian, they are too busy blindly following their book. I wish I was wrong, if so, I apologize and would be happy to read some explanations on this subject.
If your a christian, yes its considered a sin, and christians view it as a sin. But good christians "hate the sin, love the sinner"... If your not a christian, go crazy I guess :P
He was asking that.
Kid, you need to calm down.
Because they think homosexuality leads down a path that causes many problems. Also they probably think that two people can't really love each other as homosexuality, and its more like lust.
Not all Christians have to agree with Paul you know.
I will probably be posting another thread in Extended Discussion on the masculine and femenine aspects of the relationships. I think (@Luanne) that the main reason homosexuality is still seriously criticised is because it is less likely to secure a balance between those two archetypes. This has been the traditional definition point of romantic love. So effectively, if two effeminite or two masculine people love each other then it appears to take on a different form of 'love'.
BTW, I know fuck all about what it's like to be in love, I am just going by what most psychological and spiritual opinions point to: that there should be a unity.
I once read the bible when I was in the mood for a bit of fiction... but seriously, religious types are so picky. Human nature is practically a sin in the bible. Thats why I don't bother with it.
Back in those days, it was probably a practical concern, kind of like how they shouldn't eat certain foods. It was important to be fruitful and multiply, for the society to thrive, and so they made being gay a sin. Likewise, you could get poisoning by eating certain foods, so they made it a sin.
Unfortunately, people cling to rules that made sense thousands of years ago, but are of zero practical use today.
Shocking Thread.

Homosexuality is a gift from God because it is a population's natural way of birth control.
Why isn't there any Christian willing to explain this to us?
Homosexuals are gay. :P
This is just friggin' ridiculous. Homosexuality is not a sin, and if you sincerely believe it is, get your head examined, right now. How many times I gotta say it? IT'S NOT A CHOICE! How can you sin for something you cannot control? It's like saying all mentally handicapped people are going to hell because they can't confess their sins properly (see South Park). It's friggin' insanity. Tolerance, people. Gotta have tolerance.
the law in Leviticus (I believe) was made to encourage procreation (and discourage anything that would prevent or inhibit it). the Jews were persecuted and needed to keep their race going or...whatever.
I could explain every other mention of it in the bible but I...don't feel like it...right now.
I can argue from a rational Christian standpoint very easily:
1) Leviticus = old laws = bullshit
2) Paul was a Jew, so of course he wrote against homosexuals, he spent his whole life being the best Jew he could. It's not as if his vision of Christ ended with, "Oh yeah, and Paul! Don't forget to rub in that thing about the queers!"
3) Many homosexuals are effeminite, so if a masculine type homosexual (like moi :D) were to marry an effeminite type homosexual, the unity of the masculine and femenine archetypes is present, so spiritually it counts as exactly the same thing as a straight marriage.
I don't think that any sound minded Christian should be against homosexuality, because the benefits are evident, and it is spiritually compatible, like I have said.
