There are some songs that when played backwards there are weird shit in it. Sounds kinda like an evil message from the devil.

But eh... other than that I dunno.

It's so narrowminded to be so quick to judge an entire music style and scene as being evil and demonic, just because some of them are maniacs that burn churches; This does not represent Metal music.

It's the same ignorant generalisation that leads many people to racism: They got robbed by a black guy and they immediately think all black people are criminals. Or 14 muslim radical fools hijack a plane in the name of Islam and for some people this is cause to hate everything that is even slightly islamic.

Somehow I see a striking similairity between these examples, of racial and religious-based (pre)judgement leading to discriminative views and behaviour, and a bunch of fools who burn churches, crusifie christians and drink goat blood in the name of satan and in association with metal being reason for some very ignorant people to fear and loathe anything that slightly reaks of metal.

Metal is a music style. There. No matter what some lowly intelligent, delusional fools try to associate with it. And music is nothing to fear. So stop associating Metal music with burning churches and worshipping Satan.


Judgement and generalisation is a bad human habbit.
It is THERE, in our Ego's desire to generalise, harshly judge and condemn others, that Satan has a grip on us. Do not Fear Metal Music. It is Music. Nothing but music. If Metal still frightens you it is because YOU attatch Satan and Evil to it's meaning, so it's really you frightening yourself.

Fear your Ego and it's desire to constanly judge and engage in conflict with others.
Ego = Satan. They are synonimous.
Everybody has their own personal Ego/Demons and the only good they can do is to fight their own Ego/Demons and choose for Pure Consciousness/God. So if you are to judge and engage into conflict; Do it within yourself, against your own Ego/Demons.

Don't judge others. It leads to nothing but conflict and ego's colliding.

I dislike speculation about things you don't understand.

Christians don't believe that metal is "evil" per se.

It's just that the lyrics for MOST metal focus around things that are depressing/bad/etc.

Metal is often stereotyped by CHristians, and is therefore generally avoided.

It's not metal itself that we dislike.

Um...I know plenty of Christians who listen to metal, and plenty of other Christians who don't listen to metal but don't think anyone's bad for it. Perhaps they think that an individual has bad taste in music, but not that they're a bad person to listen to that music. Most of them couldn't care less. I don't listen to metal, but that's because I think it sounds rotten, not because I think it's satanic or anything, I just think that it's bad taste, just as I think rap is bad taste. However, many people think that I have bad taste in music and that's fine, I don't care. Are there really people who think that an individual is "bad" because of the music they listen to? What a stupid thing to judge people on; their taste in music... what is this world coming to?

I don't think satan has anything to do with how much a band decides to distort their guitars. I think SKA has it right.

There is Christian metal, and stereotyping metal musicians is just as bad as stereotyping Christians. There's metal about life, death, philisophy, God, Jesus, Satan, athiesm, love, hate, politics, anarchy, depression, deliverance, dragons, Lord of the Rings (LOL power metal), machines, the apocalypse, outer space, utopian society, Orwellian society, there's concept albums about books and movies.

There's upbeat metal, fantasy metal, slow metal, speed metal, shred metal, Opeth (which is acoustic guitar and metal), jazz fusion metal, space metal, etc. etc.

Slayer, Venom, and Deicide are very Satanic, and so are a few other metal bands. Others, like Iron Maiden, just use freaky imagery on their album covers and sing about crazy stuff that is not Satanic. Iron Maiden's album and title track "Number of the Beast", which was just one more Iron Maiden reference to historic literature (the Bible in that case), branded them as Satanic even though the vast majority of their music has nothing to do with Satan. Black Sabbath had a few songs about Satan in the 70's. Those few instances put a huge label on all of heavy metal because too many people generalize.

The bands that were/are Satanic just do it for the money. They knew they could get famous with it because they saw how Kiss was very unfairly branded as Satanic in the 70's and how it got them a world of extra attention.

UM, when you call a band satanic, do you mean that the band members are satanic or do you mean the music itself is satanic?

The music, but also what the band members are trying to act like while performing the music. That does not mean they actually claim to be in real life when they are off stage and out of the studio. Some do, though. The lead singer of King Diamond claimed to be a Satanist, and so did the members of Deicide. I think Mayhem does too. I don't believe them, but it's what they have claimed in interviews.

Satanism is about the most ridiculous religion possible. A person who believes in the teachings of the Bible and sides with the evil liar who tries to lure people into the eternal fire is an absolute imbecile.

Well, we just generally try to abstain from unclean/questionable things, even if not outright disgusting or Satanic.

If a Christian can listen to metal with a good conscious, and not believe it to be unclean, good for him! He won't get any flack from me.

I don't see how metal is unclean. I think this percieved Christian "hate" towards metal, when it does exist, exists because of the lack of knowledge of what metal really is.

And I know plenty of people that can't stand metal that aren't Christian. Music is subjective, I don't think one genre can be pinned as un-Christian, I think that some people just don't like it. Let's not forget there are also metal musicians that don't fall into the religious categories mentioned. Chuck Schuldiner (RIP CHUCK!), a huge name in metal, was Jewish. James Hetfield's parents were strict Christian Scientists (oxymoron much?).

I think people's hate towards metal isn't because of a feeling of it being Godly or unGodly (except in the cases of satanic or athiest bands lol, but there are also other bands in other genres that are satanic or athiest), but because some people haven't listened to enough to form an opinion or simply don't like it. I mean, one of my favorite metal bands is Vanden Plas, who are clearly Christian (songs like Postcard to God, Christo, In You: I Believe) but rather than selling Christianity, are known for their heavy guitars and progressive time signature changes.

So it's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of musical preference.

Just listened to that song. After listening to that I almost wish metal WAS satanic music. What makes the song even worse than songs like "Jesus is a friend of mine" is the fact that the instrumental qualities aren't half bad. The lyrics, discussing a supposedly positive message, do not coincide with the downbeat of their music. The lyrics go in one direction, the music goes in the complete opposite. What I'm saying is that they're a bunch of fucking posers and their music is fake.

You know, I just stay away from it. Even if there are some good Christian metal bands out there, there are also some pretty crumby ones.

Some people can control what they listen to, others can't. I can control what I listen to.

I can also control my alcohol consumption, because that's just me. But I would never do it in front of anybody, because they might NOT be able to control it, and abuse it.

I don't want to be a stumbling block. If there is a Christian who can handle Christian metal, good for him. I won't be stopping him. It really just boils down to ones personal conscience.

And you don't have to HANDLE Christian metal. It's personal preference. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean Christians have to tolerate it rather than like it. I mean, with a band like Vanden Plas, what's the difference between rock and metal? Well, it's clean singing, Christian lyrics...so I'd say the difference is how much distortion they use on their guitars.

Wait...God doesn't like it when we use extra effects on our guitar loops? :O

I better throw away this Digitech Effects Processor and this modded Boss Metal Zone pedal so that more Christians will be able to tolerate the music I write.

what about variations of metal such as elvenking and sonata arctica who are actually quite uplifting? metal as a genre doesnt have to be downer music just because its fast and distorted. Then again, these mentioned bands also use violins, keyboards, ect.

For me, no. Not at all. But when somebody gets addicted, they can get into other junk , and eventually it will have negative effects.

Like I said, the lyrics of their songs don't match the mood of the instrumental qualities. It seems like they're trying to get that heavy, tough feeling without having the lyrics to coincide it. It's not real.
