seriously is Jesus meant to be Gods son or a Sun!

There seems to be a few references to Jesus were he seems to be depicted as a Sun or at least Sun-worship has been changed by Christianity into Son Worship. One obvious one is Jesus is the light of the world but also in a few songs it's spelt Sun. I know the one often sung at my Church School: " Hark the herald angels sing" is like that.

Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
      Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
risen with healing in his wings.

and no it isn't a spelling mistake as i have checked multiple places and they all spell it as Sun.

The Romans held a festival on December 25 of Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, "the birthday of the unconquered sun." December 25 was the date after the winter solstice, with the first detectable lengthening of daylight hours. There was also a festival on December 19. There's also this Roman Sun Gods birthday.

I guess it just confuses me is all, is it just an example of how obvious it is Christianity is based on pagan believes and other religions rather then having their own stuff. Not sure who worshipped the Sun first, guess people always have, Sun God Ra and all that. They may as well make it so the Sun is being worshipped, if humans have to worship something ten worshipping the Sun annoys me slightly less, at least it is necessary to grant their existence.

I believe that astrological symbols/signs/personifications were the foundation for most modern day religions. Christianity clearly has STRONG ties to astrological symbols.

You make a very valid point.

The New Testament has so many different authors though. It's evident that a guy called Jesus Christ lived, I can't imagine that they were all in on the great hoax.
      The starz...
      The planets...
The intricate and dynamic machinery of nature...
      Are you saying,
that all of this was created,
      BY A MONKEY??????

I don't have all the answers as I'm not a professor, nonetheless..

I agree with NeoSio Type, I think Son-Sun only works in modern English.

As for Zeitgeist, I tracked the earliest version of that, in which it says things like the word 'Horizon' is a contraction of 'Horus is risen', which is bunk.

Words like 'sunset' having to do with the Egyptian god Set doesn't really work either. Etymology isn't like that, as the word 'sunset' originated in different languages before it got its present form - 'set' is from old English, Norse words etc. and has no connection to ancient Egyptian.

Zeitgeist may have been a bit free with their documentary when it came to hard evidence, but most of it can be backed up as far as I know. Obviously equating crap like sun=son is only in english and therefore bunk. But the comparisons with scripture and astrology and the similarities between ancient gods and Jesus are quite valid.
