Thread: In my opinion!! God

I'd blame the concept of any God for the wars, not the bible.

Great stories? Like the one with the fig tree? Or the two at the beginning that contradict one another?

Eh, I think the stories of Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology are far more interesting than the kind of stories in the bible.

I mean, give me the 12 trials of Hercules over some guy who turned water in to wine, or someone who got swallowed by a whale any day.

I blame guns for wars, not humans. (sarcasm)

Who honestly believes the wars would not have happened without religion? Religion was an excuse to do what people have been wanting to do since the beginning of time: Kill each other. Remove religion (or God in your case Justin) from the equation, and I'm sure they'd find some other excuse.

I wish everyone would use good examples of why they believe a specific religion to the be faulty. Pointing out that the bible has contradictions (and it has enough to make anyone's eyes bleed) is a better way of going about this argument. So hats off to you for being the first I noticed to do just this. I'm not being sarcastic here, by the way.

Arguing the bible is unnecessary though. I was merely pointing out that the bible has no literary value. All monotheistic religions are faulty because they presume that god exists. Since he doesn't exist, the whole thing becomes entirely meaningless.

Not every religion has the bible (or other form). A concept of a "god" is the reason for wars, not "bibles."

When the bible/other form of a bible says things around the lines of "LIK DEW NAWT KILLZ PEOPLEZ," they wouldn't kill then. There'd be another reason, and that's probably them thinking their "god" wants them to annihilate anything and everything.

Religion is a blindfold and earmuff to sanity. Without religion there are so many wars that would not have happened. This isn't saying war would not have happened, but there would most definately had been less war.

That's hilarious! The true nature of reality is what we cannot comprehend, which is generally why nobody understands God.
