Talking Dr. Laura and the bible

An oldie but a goodie. If you don't know Dr. Laura, she was a talk-show phenom some years ago. She was a supposed psychologist who gave her callers "life-lessons" on what she thought was good for us all.

      Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to best follow them.

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

I HATE that woman. I despise every molecule in her body. First of all, she calls herself "Dr. Laura" and then tries to pass herself off as a radio therapist. But she does not have a masters or a PhD in psychology!!!! It is in like biology or something. She is not a real therapist. What makes me hate her more than anything else is how she uses that facade to lure emotionally distraught people into calling her radio show to spill their problems out with the hope of getting help and then she verbally barbeques them while they are on the air. She is mean as a cornered rattle snake to her very depressed callers. Nothing she says is consoling or easing. It is all a bunch of, "It's all because you suck and you screwed everything up. Shut up. I am the know it all of great righteousness." She interrupts her callers and even sits there and waits for them to start talking and then interrupts them just to be a bitch. She will do that five times in a row with the same caller! I have heard people call her show and talk about uncontrollable emotions they have and want to get rid of, and that bitch will just dog them for having the emotions. She is the most condescending person I have ever heard talk. On top of all of that, she is always trying to pass herself off as Mrs. Morality. The one thing I hate more than an evil person who brags about being evil is an evil person who tries to pass him or herself off as a morally superior person. That is the story of Laura Schlessinger's life.

With all of that in her background, she got busted in the 90's in some nude pictures she had taken of herself when she was cheating on her husband. That shows even further what a hypocrite she is. I think I might hate her more than any other American I can name. I wonder how many of her callers ended up committing suicide. I know she does not give a damn. I have not listened to her show in about six years, and I am not sure if I could stomach ever listening to it again, if she even still has a radio show. I hope it tanked, and I hope she is starving and repeatedly getting turned down by the Welfare department. While I am at it, I hope she is dead. I don't say that about too many people, but that is how I feel about her.

I just looked that up, and apparently the Bible comments in the original post were from a mock Dr. Laura interview on The West Wing. The lady was called Dr. Jacobs, but she was a spoof on Dr. Laura. In the first part of the interview, the caller made light of the fact that her PhD/Dr. status had nothing to do with her line of work. Then he started asking the Bible questions.
      You are dreaming right now.

That letter turns up every so often. Dr. Laura sounds like a pain. People like that arte best avoided in my opinion. They just lead to anger and they should be beneath contempt.
