I Would Like To Apologize.. (please read)

Hey Folks, First off I would like to say I am a christian.. But I am not here to preach.. But instead.. I am here to apologize... You may be wondering why I would like to apologize.. I would like to apologize because I know there are some unbelievers out there, that have met Believers---and have gotten a bad first impression.. I guess in other words.. To put it bluntly.. There are christians out there in this world who think they are better then unbelievers simply because THEY BELIEVE.. I am here to stand up as a christian and Say, I am sorry.. Not because I am one of those who think they are better, but because "Thinking we are better" is what draws people away--not closer. If you think about it.. Christians and non believers... Are exactly alike.. To shed some light on the subject.. 90 percent of americans.... Lie on a daily basis.. 90 percent.. As a Christian I can tell you that, the whole 90 percent, isnt just Unbelievers... Its Believers as well...Not only that.. But Christians are just as likely to divorce as non believers... You must be wondering why I am saying this--and not defending my Brothers in Sisters in the Lord...I am not downgrading or defending.. I am just simply bringing everybody-- Believers and Non Believers down to the same level.. Looking eye to eye for a change, instead of seeming like one is better then the other... If you look at it through God's Eyes... Christian or not... Nobody is better then another.. Just because we believe, doesnt make us better then the person standing next to us who does not believe.. God's Love is unconditional for both.. Some Christians think that since they believe and are saved by Jesus Christ that their lives and the way they live are better then the next... Well Like i said.. God see's us all as equal.. No greater, No less.. And I am just sorry that some unbelievers have come across Believers that were not "Text book" Christians... To close this up.. Christians are just humans like everyone else.. We fall short.. We Sin.. We Lie....We do what everyone else does.. Although some may not admit to that fact... Becoming a Christian doesnt mean "We are perfect"--Although some may think that-- It's suppose to mean that we understand how much we need Jesus-- Why-- Because of how short we fall from Him.. How we say one thing " I am a christian" and turn around and do the opposite.. Just Know that I am sorry for the fact that there are Christians out there who think they are better then the rest.. Because that is not the case.. I am not disappointed that I am Christian--not at all. I am just speaking the truth.. That in all reality.. We are no different from eachother.. And only by the Grace and Love of Jesus Christ.. Can we all be saved together... Thank you for reading.. Opinions are all welcome! God Bless DJ

A better question: is it meaningful to apologize? What is an apology worth to the dead and slain?

Spirit, thank you for apologizing for the snobbiness of other Christians. You are not responsible for it, though, as far as I know. I think some of the snippy reactions you have gotten in this thread come not from your deliberate gesture of peace, but instead from your unintentional threat. I at least assume it was unintentional. You said that we can only be saved by Jesus. I know you have been taught that that is a kind thing to say, but atheists will generally take that as a threat of eternal torture, which is the worst threat that can possibly be made, by far. Think about it. You meant well, apparently, but you did say in a round about and unintenional way, "Join my religion or burn forever and ever." That is the message of Christianity that pisses people off more than any other. The elitist snobbery of so many Christians on an Earthly social level is very minor compared to the big time threat that the religion's message carries with it. Keep that in mind. But thanks again for the kind aspect of your post.

Jesus, you guys are assholes. spirtofthewolf, I feel your pain. Judeo-Christianity has historically been militarily, economically, socially, the strongest and most powerful of all religions. What does it mean when a man holds all of the weapons and instruments of power in some context, shoots you, and then apologizes while still retaining all of the guns? The man can still bring harm to you. Apology only has context between equals in strength, or from the weak (and fearful) to the powerful. I'm not trying to be an asshole. I'm simply asking him what his real motives are, because there's nothing to be meaningfully apologized about to us heretics. It just makes him look like he's trying to prove something to himself and look like he has some nebulous moral high ground. He could go about to his fellow Christians and spread his message, and it would have more effect. At best, maybe Christianity would become overall less bad in the very least. The human brain's complexity shows a higher intelligence behind it. Fail, and repetition of point 1. 3. Does God exist? "Chance" or "natural causes" are insufficient explanations. Nobody claims chance as an explanation, and if something exists it automatically becomes classified as natural so "natural causes" isn't an explanation either. Funnily enough, the author didn't explain why god is a good explanation. I guess it's implied the "ZOMG MAGIC" logic. 4. Does God exist? To state with certainty that there is no God, a person has to ignore the passion of an enormously vast number of people who are convinced that there is a God. Centuries ago everyone believed you could cure diseases by bleeding. The cure for AIDS has been found. 5. Does God exist? We know God exists because he pursues us. He is constantly initiating and seeking for us to come to him. Yes, yes he is. Take for example the tsunami from the indian ocean earthquake in 2004, god made thousands of people come to him. 6. Does God exist? Unlike any other revelation of God, Jesus Christ is the clearest, most specific picture of God pursuing us. Err... why? The intellectual vacuum from that article actually sucked in my brain activity for a second.
