You're going to break your back trying to verify everything that hard, declaring it false until somebody writes it down in a scholarly magazine. Things don't have to be true and false.
Ideas that are interesting aren't necessarily true. However, you were making some specific claims earlier, and now you go "Oh, but I'm only using this as a sort of free association. I don't have to verify anything". Umm, wrong. If you don't want to look potentially ignorant, then it becomes important to verify the information you are using to construct your argument.

Also, so what if I go about making sure I verify everything I say in a debate. If anything, it means I can articulate my argument more effectively, and actually have weight with anything I say. To go around and making claims to which you don't verify their validity and then claim afterwards that it's not your problem will just paint you as a potential troll or simply someone who is full of shit.

This whole "I use information when I need to" mentality is a bit of a contradiction. I mean, without knowledge, how do you handle the information that you comes across, how do you communicate it, etc. This disregard for knowledge just blinds you to the fact that you are already 'burdened' with knowledge.
