I think it's relatively probable that some guy named Jesus existed at some point in time around the area of Jerusalem and got killed because some people didn't like him, quite possibly by crucifixion. And that based on this story a following emerged.

That's about as far as I would go.

We're talking about the SoG Version here.

All others don't count because they still aren't what Christianity sits ontop of.

You do realize that I am keeping this bumped because no theist here will respond to the video coherently, right?

It's not that it's old news or even correct news it's just that they like to say it over and over again for their own self fulfilling enjoyment and it never satisfies.

If you can correct that video, our eyes are open.

The people who made this video (same ones that made the Zeitgeist conspiracy video, right?) have no understanding of what religion is, or represents. It is insanely naive to try and mock a 2000 year old religion by finding some passage that supposedly reveals some sort of trick that completely proves or disproves the existence of God. When the man who wrote that passage did just that, do you genuinely think that he was under the impression that if you ask God to put a cheeseburger (or goat?) on your table that second, he'll do it? It's obvously just another segment of the bible that tries to convey the message that God will look out for those who pray to them.
Trying to find a technicality in the bible in the first place is completely absurd. It is just a compilation of stories written by priests or whatnot (I'm not an expert on Christianity, I don't know who wrote the different versions of the bible) to instill faith in reader. This video proves nothing, apart from the profound ignorance and arrogance of the creators.

By the way, I'm not a Christian, nor am I religious. I'm just an open-minded person who seeks truth. I hate close-mindedness, whether it comes from products of our increasingly secular society, or any religious people denying the possibility that their religion might not be the one true path.

Then you don't think the Bible is the word of God. If the Bible is not the word of God, then what is the basis for believing what it says?

I'm surprised this is something I can actually answer! I know little about Christianity, but this I know. It is NOT supposed to be the direct word of God. The only religious texts that are, are the 10 commandments (I think) and the Koran. The Bible is written, as I stated, by random people who lived about 2000 years ago. Just stories and stuff about Jesus, from men who probably claimed to communicate with God, but none proposed that they were writing down God's words.

Christians believe it's true because it was written by men who were touched by Jesus, and his disciples wouldn't lie, I guess.

More excuses to believe that x is infallible and y is just something made up/ exaggerated.

It is because if x holds no more evidence than y and you say y is made up/ exagerrated then surely x defuncts to the same?

Cherry picking, etc. is just an excuse to believe in the magic man w/o the impact of serious logical fallacies.

Wait wait wait, how is the Koran more of a religious text than the bible? And what does that say about religion if it is?

Anyway this reminds me. One of my very intelligent friends (studying to be a lawyer and all) thinks that the Noah story actually happened.

Koran owns all: Mohammed tells us: "Women are your fields; go into them as you please"

Infallible? That's a strong word, all I did was try to explain why that video is moronic. I don't see any reason why any of the major religious could be correct, but there are legitimate ways to try and prove this. Finding some trick in the Bible is not one of them.

"Wait wait wait, how is the Koran more of a religious text than the bible? And what does that say about religion if it is?"

I didn't say that, what I said (and this is just part of the religions, not my opinion) is that the Koran is supposed to be the exact words of God, that Mohammed wrote down, and the Bible is supposed to be written by priests (or whomever) about Jesus and God. Some Muslims like to use this as evidence that their religion is the one true path, but to athiests (or agnostics) as we all seem to be, it really makes very little difference. The Bible will have just as profound an impact on a Christian as the Koran does on a Muslim.

Hehe. There's a lot of that stuff in the Koran, Bible and Torah (I cannot speak offhand about eastern religions). That's one of the reasons that I don't buy organized religions. All of "God's Laws" end up just being the values of that particular society at that particular point in time, and as values of the society shift, religious leaders say everyone is going to hell, or they come up with reasons that the law wasn't REALLY opressing women and meaning for you to stone homosexuals......
