That made no sense.
I'm being incredibly blunt. What I'm trying to put across as bluntly as possible is it is not up to the sceptics to disprove the proposer of a claim wrong, it is actually the other way round. The proposer of a claim must substantiate his/her claim with evidence, because only then does a sceptic have to provide evidence to back his/her scepticism. Since you, one of the proposers, have yet to provide anything concrete, therefore, I call bullshit, and I don't have to provide evidence for my case. I can if I want to, but the burden of proof lies still with the proposer.
Also, if you watched the video, you'd understand why I seem to be 'frustrated'.
This is not a scientific journal and I am not a scientist. This is an internet forum and we are discussing astrology, or at least we were until the thread got derailed. Forgive me if I don't feel your burden of proof as acutely as you think I should. You and I are both more or less passive observers as science progresses. If you want to take the current state of scientific understanding as the last word on the totality of existence, feel free to do so. I think that's pretty short sighted, but who knows.
Reread my statement. That is not what I said or implied. I think you are just deliberately being thick.
Then you are not communicating your points as effectively as you think. You say to just hold to the Scientific viewpoint is short-sighted, or you say it say to hold Science as the final word on what it means to be is short-sighted? For the latter, nothing does. Science is the pursuit of knowledge, of course it doesn't know everything, but it is at least trying to investigate the world around us.
To dogmatically reject everything that science is not yet equipped to explain as "bullshit" is short sided. Unless you feel that that in it's current state science sufficiently describes to totality of existence?
Yey nice lil' strawman at the end there. Tell me, what is this mysterious observation which you are trying to explain scientifically?Quote:

The stars tell you when it's best to poo.
Because nobody claimed that science had figured out all there is to know, and so refuting that has absolutely nothing to do with refuting the argument that there's no evidence for astrology! It's completely bloody obvious how that's a strawman.Quote:
How the fuck is that a strawman? Find me one single credible scientist anywhere who will proclaim that science has figured out all there is to know. don't be dogmatic to the point of stupidity.
Now answer the question I asked you which you just ignored.
It would be fantastic to have a scientifically approved explanation of HOW astrology works. The fact that science in it's current state isn't up to the challenge is not something I choose to hold against science, or astrology for that matter. The question of IF astrology works is not something that science has chosen to take up yet, and therefore hasn't established one way or the other to it's own satisfaction.
Usually I just ignore your posts because you're such a troll with nothing to offer but what the hell...
I have found all the proof I need. How? Research. Experimentation. Active participation. Empirical experiments. Collecting my own data. All of which is a little closer to the scientific spirit than dismissing something out of hand dogmatically because it hasn't been sanctioned by the high priests of science.
Read what exactly? Obviously being that you generally bring nothing to the table I'll have to take your recommendations with a grain of salt, but go ahead and recommended something. I'm a voracious reader actually.
LOL @ "high priests of science".
Okay... let me explain the process of a valid experiment. See how many points you score! :D :
Four main points. How many did you follow with your 'experiments'? If you managed to hit all four and managed to prove Astrology to work, well, what are you waiting for? You have a Nobel Prize to win! So go write that thesis and send it for peer-review!
- Thou shalt prepare a meticulous methodology outlining how you will conduct the experiment and collect the results.
- Thou shalt use large number of samples for thy experiment (In this case, how many people will be used for the experiment).
- Thou shalt conduct the tests blindly.
- Thou shalt have a control.
Look dingle berry, I am not the one screaming “science science science”. Yes, it looks like you’ve set up a valid scientifically approved experiment. Go ahead and do it or STFU! Shit or get off the pot!
Yeah that might be a good point if I was a scientist.
Yeah, but "Astrology is bullshit" is also an unsubstantiated claim. You can't have it both ways.
