don't give up hope. look, and you will find. (see Matthew 7:8. yeah, it's a bible verse, but it makes no mention of having to accept christ as your personal saviour, or any conditions for that matter. it isn't asking for anything. it's simply free wisdom, offered to all people, from all worlds.) if you want answers, stop, take a deep breath, and...play some of your favourite music. if you don't usually pay attention to lyrics (like I never did before), try it. the artist you're listening to either has something to say or he/she doesn't. if the person has nothing important to say, and the music has little feeling, that's ok. because I can guarantee that in that same (or any) genre you can find an artist with passion. yes. be on the lookout for music with passion, it's the only music that's worth anything. listen to some music, different kinds, different bands. don't limit yourself. try new things. you may realize that if you give things enough of a chance, there are a lot of great things out there you may never have found because of impatience. if you mostly like music without lyrics, that's perfect. whoever is reading this, listen to what moves you, whatever it is. there are other ways to find the answers besides music, but music is a powerful phenomenon that has profoundly affected humans for ages...so maybe it's a good place to start.

yes, I'm glad you made the post. it tells me that I didn't explain it well enough. (it's not that it isn't true, I wouldn't have deliberately said it unless I knew for sure that it would somehow be helpful. so the advice itself isn't poor, just the explaination.) thanks for replying. I'll get back to this thread to explain it better as soon as I'm able.

I agree, it's weird but sometimes when I'm feeling like shit or just confused I'll listen to whatever song comes to mind and sometimes it feels like the artist is singing about my shit. The conclusion I came to but refused to admit to myself was that life is trying to give us the medicine we need and will express it in whatever medium it can. Take the movie Cast Away, which I watched for the first time during a time in my life when I felt shipwrecked with no hope and no reason to keep going. After Tom Hanks was saved I thought the only possible ending it could have was that his love would leave her husband to be with him again. No other ending would have made sense to me, and then he gave that speech to his friend about how he had no cpontrol over his life. He was going to attempt suicide so he could at least control how and when he died, but the test run showed he didn't even have power over his own death. he said, "So I kept breathing, and then one day the tide came in and gave me a sail." Then he related that to how he couldn't be with the one he loved anymore but he'd keep breathing because tomorrow the sun will rise and who knows what the tide could bring in. It was like a dose of advil for a headache. I was not only given great advice on how to deal with my current circumstances but I also felt this feeling like something beneath the surface of perceivable reality was on my side, trying to console me. I agree though, the artist has to be inspired, they have to bve passionate. They have to feel liker they had to create whatever it is they made. Even if its jus coincidence that I saw cast away at the time when I so desperately needed that advice, it's still true that expressing the human experience helps others feel like they aren't experiencing this shit for the first time.
