Why do so many athiest troll the religion post?
Yet another "Atheists are the Bad Guys" thread. The section is to debate religion, and if that offends you then you might as well stay the hell out of that section. And from what I've seen just as many religious people 'troll' there as well.
well you have to think of it this way.
Lets say a Christian starts a thread, generally the majority of the first replies will be from multiple Atheists, challenging what was said if it were statement. Vice versa if an Atheist starts a thread, chances are the early replies will be Christians challenging what ever was said.
Also i believe the majority of people in this site are agnostic or atheist. or at least from what i have seen in the debate topics.
ALSO...lol. Often threads started by Christians will be asking atheists why they don't believe or will post some kind of biblical evidence or personal evidence for God, in order to convert. Obviously responses to this are going to be many atheists explaining their view and the problems with the evidence presented.
Just like many threads by Atheists are links to examples of very evangelist( is that the correct term, i mean strong and literal) Christians who are spoutting hatred, stereotypes, threats of the growing army in America, etc. So you'd expect to see Christians replying strongly that that does not represent many Christians.
I only come in here if I notice something interesting as the last post in it from the main forum, like this time.
I thought atheism was a religion
it's those damn agnostics we've got to suppress...
Atheism is kind of like the absense of religion I thought. :P
Na man, Agnosticism is the way to go.
Because I follow Stephenism. But to the unsuspecting eye, they might think it's Agnostic. Just with my name infront of the ism.
But it's all good. As long as you don't try to convert me I'm fine. :D
Edit:
Forgot about the main topic...
Fuck off if you're just going to whine your pompous ass in our faces. I no like whining in my face.
*cough*flat earth society*cough*Quote:
If someone started a thread asking to discuss about how the world is flat
There are many levels of athiety. Some are athier than others. But there can be only one "Athiest".
I consider myself an atheist and all it takes is for someone to say, "These are my beliefs, please do not question them" or some familiar indication, and I will leave them be.
Although, I am always open to discourse for mutual edification.

You're not far off, Moonbeam. There's over 5,000 gods in the history of humankind, and the list is growing constantly as new subcultures, tribes, and historic cults are finally being documented.
I am a christian and I support your theory that SOMETIMES atheists bash christians but, I don't think it is fair to say that all or even most Atheists bash christians. It's just debate. I have heard them slander our religion but for the most part it's realativly few people. Also have you seen some of the christians attacking THEM? I have, it isn't pretty. I've heard some christians so insult these, for the most part, decent and wonderful people with such vile insults it would make jesus cringe with shock, at least I think he would.
It's my belief that overall, Athiests and Agnostics are among the most tolerant people in the world. Logical discourse is not the same as trolling.
It certainly is not a joke. I've never heard of an athiest attacking someone because of their religion. On the other hand, consider:
Christian vs. Muslem
Protostant vs. Catholic
Sunni vs. shi'ite
Palestine vs. Israel
First Crusade 1095-1099
Second Crusade 11471149
Third Crusade 11871192
Fourth Crusade 12021204
Albigensian Crusade 1209
Fifth Crusade 12171221
Sixth Crusade 12281229
Seventh Crusade 12481254

Eighth Crusade 1270
Ninth Crusade 12711272

Wendish Crusade 1147
Crusade against the Stedingers 1232-1234

Should I go on, or is that sufficient?
I'd guess that at least half the members of this site or Christian, either openly or in the closet.
Most of the Christians on this site (of which I am one) avoid the R&S forum like the plague. The message of Chritianity is best spread by showing love, understanding and tolerance, not by argument.
You've never heard of an atheist attacking someone because of their religion? Really? What about all over this section of the forum? That's what I'm talking about.
You're right, those conflicts are because of religion. I don't consider someone really Christian or whatever religion if they feel the best way to "save" someone is to kill them. After all, wasn't Jesus Christ about love and understanding?
My point was just that atheists on this forum section seem to have nothing better to do then to tear apart peoples beliefs and ideals.
My assertion: "It's my belief that overall, Atheists and Agnostics are among the most tolerant people in the world" was seen as a joke by you. My list of atrocities committed in the name of religion was countered by "atheists attack with words on an internet forum." Would you not agree that there is a large disparity in our examples that might suggest my claim had merit?
To put it more succinctly, which is more tolerant?:
1. Countering one's religious claims with words.
2. Countering one's religious claims with genocide.
Now how about some examples of atrocity in the name of Atheism? Perhaps you could dig up one or two for me?
Not really attack. Or even be so mean as many religious people I have seen have been.
I am Agnostic. I post my beliefs on here. A lot. I talk about religion and my beliefs. A lot. Usually it is another person talking about it to me, or I jump into a conversation about it if it's a good, interesting debate. I state my opinions on my spirituality, and provide my views of others to further explain why I have my views, and so that others can relate. Many times, I do think kind of jokingly that most people like me would get, and I understand that it could easily seem harsh to somebody if taken the wrong way. I may say some stupid crack about Jesus or Christians, that isn't meant to harm, for instance, but many times they are taken seriously. :P
It's natural of course. People don't want to hear that something major about them is being frowned upon or even harshly rejected.
Me vs Christian.
Step one. I say why I'm Agnostic:
I say my views that religions are techniques to control the masses for gain and power, and that I don't like following what another human says I should do to live my spiritual life. I think that we should all find our own paths.
He says why he's Christian:
Christian says that he believes in Jesus and the Bible, and that he would rather follow Jesus with his promised eternal life, dieing for our sins, forgiveness, etc.
I say why I'm not Christian:
I understand his believes that. I then might give some examples why I don't believe them. I might talk about how the Bible was written by humans who have emotions, make mistakes, and are crazy. And that it was written thousands of years ago and translated through umpteenth languages that have nothing to do with any form of English or Latin.
He says why he's not agnostic:
His reason for not being Agnostic is probably... "You're going to hell."
I think that he's now just lost for arguments and is now being somewhat of an ass. So I say that I think Christians are blind sheep following a shepherd with a fat wallet and a high throne of power in this world.
I think that it usually escalates from peace to either minor bashing, or, in some cases, there's an ass hole that makes it go crazy.
For the most case though, I'd say religious people cause most fights against other religions. Agnostics are mostly open minded and peaceful, or at least will listen to you.
