      I haven't heard that one before, and I'd have to point out that you can't use percentages like that on binomially distributed data, but I do know that Christians have a higher divorce rate than atheists in the US.
      So yea, the more Controversial Parts that attack religion will most likely be either cut or adapted.
      It's weird though... any Christian who suddenly starts ranting about His Dark Materials now is basically saying, 'I'm too fucking stupid to read books, but now it's been converted to a format I can understand I hate it'.

      Wow... I never thought of it that way - there's really no reason for the ideas conveyed to be more offensive in a movie vs. the book. Except, of course, that they don't read the books.

      If they keep the 'controversial', religion-attacking theme (which I hope they do, it would feel like selling-out otherwise), then the film might reach a larger audience. All them Bible-Belt American evangelists who don't read books.
