i only watched the one about Christians because i consider myself one. i have to say they scared me a little. they used too many metaphors involving battle and war. i think people take it too far sometimes to the point where it can get dangerous. when you hear a thousand kids chanting their "soldiers of Christ" some people might get the wrong idea. their intentions are good but i think the energy isnt directed in the right place.

i think they should back away from the soldier and warrior metaphors and embrace the more important things. i take a lot of my religious views from NDE experiences. they can be very deep at times. i think the most important aspect of spirituality is love. as one NDE Survivor said "Religions are cultural institutions but love is universal"

I watch cable news networks all the time, but I didn't see those videos. I like Fox the most because I think is the most unbiased. CNN and MSNBC are liberal brainwashing machines, but I watch them any way. I don't think any of them lie because I think they are in waaaaaaay too much competition with each other to be able to get away with lying. They just slant the news in persuasive efforts. Fox will say, "U.S. troops will remain in Iraq in the effort to allow Iraq to be an independently free state." CNN and MSNBC will say, "Bush is still forcing U.S. troops to act like pigs by staying in the Iraq bloodbath so he can impose his idea of government on the country he is an asshole for occupying." It's all a matter of how the truth is presented. MSNBC is more liberally slanted than CNN, but it is also a more entertaining network. I watch CNN when Fox and MSNBC are showing stuff too boring to watch.

Judaism, Chrisitianity, and Islam ALL have the "Thou shalt not murder" rule. But they also have rules that contradict that one. That is one more reason I am puzzled by how people buy into their teachings.

You should. They were very well thought out, in my opinion. I just wish my teacher would hurry up and watch the DVD I taped it on so I can watch it again.

I believe even in the midst of unity in one idea, while prolonging and perhaps lessening conflict, war will come. There are too many minds in the world, first off, for this to logically happen even in the distant future. Many believe along this line though.

Muslims believe in worldwide Islam. Hence holy wars and conquest.

Many Christians want this as well. I don't know why since our own Scripture tells us it won't happen, and many of the attempted conformity is on the line of being war-like between themselves and another person. This is non-Scriptural.

Many atheists want to eliminate all religion, thus worldwide atheism.

Some of the new-age religion (Cosmic humanism) want us to unify in the universal consciousness.

I think a human beings lust for power, status, rule, and land to call their own will always cease unity. While many wars were religious based, I'm willing to bet these were caused by power-lust on a human level, and less to do with the actual context of that religion. [Though I don't know how to explain away "kill all infidels"]

All races our the same, however 1% has been changed. Is 1% a difference? should we go around treating them different or as the same. Now their is no race gene and their is only shallow differences between races, which is look.

With all due respect: I don't know how you assumed that was racist. The DNA is very close, of course, but different races tend to have different cultural context and upbringing. Thus differences. Now I said 'tend to', and I fully realize there are MANY cases that this is not true. He never implied race inferiority, but was realistic in saying certain groups of people have different outlooks. Taken from an objective cultural stance, all perspectives are equal. It is when certain groups or cultures have a superiority complex that division is formed.

Edit: Let me add that "racism" is a word that is being tagged on a lot of people, especilly in America, when it is not warrented. If you even bring up that one man is white and the other black, one black the other Asian, or Hispanic, you're "racist".

If he mean't cultural differences then he is not racist. I just hate when people say someone is different because of their skin colour or different facial feature. Saying you respect racial differences is basically saying were different, however we are only culturally different.

When you start saying their different then the racist line is acrossed. I am not anglo saxon and I don't consider myself different from the average britian. But if someone came up to me and said your racially different then I will start to get angry as their no such thing as race.

Trivial differences like where your born and how your raise makes you different, not your race. He was implying that being a different race makes you different, which is racist. Saying that he might have mean't cultural differences.

Stop putting words into my mouth. I think the big assumption you made is not whether I was talking about culture or not. You were assuming that "different" automatically means "one is inferior and one is superior". And that's dead wrong. I'll be the first to point out that differences are all about nurture, and not nature. But that doesn't mean there can't be differences. Let me segue into this. I know it doesn't belong in this thread, but I think after your baseless and inconsiderate accusation, I can post a defense.

I think there are two kinds of racism. The first is the obvious one, where you think one race is inferior to another, and you make decisions in life based on that. Two of my friends:

1) Josh is from South Africa. He moved to the US years ago, and recently got his citizenship. He is a WHITE, African American.

2) Jenkins is from Haiti. He's in the US for a few months on an exchange. He wears stylish glasses.

Now, let's say Josh and Jenkins are talking at a party, having a good time, and let's say I'm talking to some guy and want to point Josh out. Are ya having trouble seeing where I'm headed with this?

When you say differences I assume you mean the 'big' differences which is looks. Cultural differences are not a good representation of races as they change all the time. So saying you respect culture is stupid as it always evolves mainly because their something always bad with culture.

Why did you even use race, you should have used culture. Do you believe their is such a thing as race? I don't their is no genes or little genes for race. So using race in the first place is stupid, you should have used looks or colour of skin. Since race is only the 1&#37; that codes for skin colour. So yeah, lets respect the 1% that makes us all different.

Also, using the word differences is bad. What the difference between a white person and a black person? Except their colour of skin. I can't really see a difference.

Any people united by common history, language, cultural traits, etc.

Race does not HAVE to mean the color of a mans skin. One should not be offended by "I look at religion the same way as I look at race: We should learn to embrace our differences." Yes race can mean physical characteristics, but given the context of this sentence I do not see how it could be anything but culture.

So what you're saying is, if I were to go back and edit my post with the world "culture", you would shut up about it? I'm amazed that one line of text that had the goal of creating a feeling of unity and tolerance has ONE slightly misplaced word (according to YOU), and your oversensitive parser decides to go on a crusade. Not very much, I was just giving an example. Another example is someone going batshit over a misplaced word, instead of, say, asking for a clarification. That's the polite thing to do, after all.

You keep asking what the differences are, but let me ask you this: Why are [X] people [X]? Well, over time, given some particular climate they lived in (over thousands of years), they've slowly evolved [X]-ness. The sun is pretty harsh near the equator. Slowly, the skin pigmentation will set in. You'll notice there aren't very many black pure-bred northern Ontarians.

Now, since proximity is one factor, and cultures develop within groups of people (separated from other groups/cultures by space/distance and nothing more), doesn't it follow that there is at least a LOOSE connection between race and culture? Not a big enough connection that you can make blanket statements about who's inferior, but still a strong enough connection that comedians can talk about it, without being offensive, and people will relate end enjoy it?

Also, while there is no "race" gene, if two white people have sex... would you expect a black baby? Of course not. Not unless she's a cheatin' whore anyway.

So let's go back to my original statement:

Since it's CLEARLY the case that I intended that to be a positive remark, promoting openness, tolerance and unity as human beings, can't it follow that by "race", I meant the whole package (physical differences AND the loose cultural coupling that goes with it)? If that wasn't clear, then I sincerely apologize, but for feck's sake, control your impulse to flame! I realize this is the R/S forum, which is an open invitation to flame anyone and anything with two legs and a pulse, but please try to contain yourself next time.

Now, let's bring this back to the original topic: flaming people because of their thoughts on the CNN video
