Thread: Selling your soul

I'm not entirely sure if this topic is serious or not...If it is, please don't make fun out of one members question/views.

I think you can sell it. It's called "black magic", you summon a big dark entity it gives you powers no man could have on his own, and serves you while you live, when you die it claims owner ship of you. You lose any light you have and have to serve the dark ones. You don't cease to exsist immortality is exactly what it says on the tin.

Well, even if you can sell it (which seems to not be true), it will be something like this. You say at some point "I would say my soul for a *****" . Then the devil (or some of the devil's servents) and tell you, are you sure or not. You tell - I am sure (or may be "i dont really want this"). The devil gives you the thing, but in a way that it doesnt look like its from him (for example you get it like a gift from your parents), and he makes you to forget the whole "talking to devil" thing, but you've got the thing, and you owe him your soul. May be just the ones which said that and didnt get anything had either 1. alreadly sold they soul and they dont remember it. 2. they talk every time to the devil and they say to him "i dont really want to sell my soul, it could get usefull". But thats just a stupid theory for a stupid thing, that is probably not existing. Hell, I will believe in the Loch Ness monster, but not in this

To sell the own soul is a contradiction. And if not, you are always the looser. What could you win if you have no more soul?
You are the soul.

You don't own it in the first place.

Cloudwalker is right. You can't sell something that doesn't belong to you. Your soul will always belong to God.

What if i were to say the creator and the created are the same.

What IS a soul anyway? How can we sell something we have no solid idea of? Why would another entity on another plane of existence perceive it as worthy of 'buying' ?

About one or two years ago I bought like 12 souls off of my classmates for like 10p or 5p each. Nothing has happened since I was an athiest and if I didn't believe it would happen nothing would (if you get that). But now me and my friend started our own religion - The Water Ribbons!! It's very fun. I would go into it but it's off topic.

see i belive only God can own your soul its not youres to sell or even if you were to sell it too lets sayt he devil nothing would actually happen you would possebly think that it has been sould but hasent ...but it is a very scary topic but who knows maby you could sell it !

Don't you think God would be angry that you tried to sell something that belonged to him?

I'm still trying to figure out what you guys mean by "selling your soul". I've obviously heard the expression tons of times but it's nothing more than a cliche anymore. It seems to have become nothing more than an expression meaning to start doing the wrong things in life.

So, to anyone who is taking this seriously enough to actually consider whether "selling one's soul" is even doable: What does the phrase "sell your soul" even mean to you?

I'd really like an answer to that. Without defining what the heck "selling your soul" even means to you, it means absolutely nothing at all. And until some one here defines what they mean by it, I will lend zero credibility to any of you.

Soooo... any takers? Can any of you even clearly decide and convey whether you mean "selling your soul" in a literal or a figurative sense? And whichever you believe - its being figurative or literal - how do you mean it to even be possible? And what currency would be involved in this mythical transaction? How is this transaction going to play out? What is the nature of this transaction? Do any of you even have a clue about what you actually believe or are you just throwing around meaningless cliches?

All of this blathering about the topic and, still, no one has ventured far enough to even make clear what the hell they're talking about. It's a thread based on an undefined abstract concept that seems to be interpreted differently be every single poster here: on both sides of the fence. No one even seems to talking about the same thing.

I think that... well I'll call it enlightenment/creation/life or darkness/destruction/death.

All people I believe engage in one of the two forces, life or death. God or Lucifer/devil are names for the personification of these forces, when people engage in darkness they personify darkness on the other hand if you engage in light/enlightenment you personify life and give these entity's a life-form of some sort, no matter what we always have a choice to build life or engage in destruction.

So, having said that I think your just fine as long as you engage in creation and not death.

Agreed. And thank you for stating what you mean and not just throwing around meaningless terms.

Anyone who subscribes to the "selling of souls" camp care to give their point of view? By the way, I'm not trying to be difficult. I just think we need to have a consensus of what the term is being used to signify before we can even attempt to debate whether it's possible or not. We need to be on the same page first.

I have seen to Simpson episode when bart sells his soul to millhouse.
that's the only thing i know about selling souls =P
