Religion=mental Illness

Having thoiught about it and religion i have to conclude that religion is madness. First of belife in any book could be guilibillity human are very prone to believing thing that are not their like santa claus. A special connection or voice this could be a psychosis like schiofernia even worse even if your told your mad then your proberly wont believe because your crazy. Finally all the thing associated with it could be because of delusion or hallucination like feeling of joy somebody going in you e.t.c. Ignorance as well because if you were not ignorant then you would be a agnostic as you would know that belife in something is ignorance and you would not be ignorant enought to know you might be wrong or crazy.

Judging by this i think religion is madness.

I guess I need to throw away most of my college text books as well. Especially those dealing with chemistry and physics.

In a cretain way it is crazy. However it isn't really a mental illness, just a mental-mass-influence, like facism, or hippy-ism, to an extend. Allmost everyone can be turned into a christian, muslim, nazi, ect, with enough brainwashing/indoctrination.


Then again, if just one person would claim some person defied the laws of gravity, and that person would pray, kneel and cry to a statue of that -surprisingly white- middle-eastern lad, Then it would be crazy. When it is a tradition of lagre groups doing it, it is 'religion'.

Edit: I saw that no-one till now gave a real response of his claims. Why not? Even if he is wrong, why not debate? The man that -30 years ago- reseached or there are genes that make people have a more voilent nature, thus voilence being inheritable, was called a nazi and a cruel facist. Now we see hee is right.

Point is: Even the most seemly ridiculous claims deserve an objective appoach.

I guess your right since belife in that could be insanity and delusion too as how do you know that it is true and your not lock up in a mental home or dreaming about it. And wouldnt a truly crazy person think he not crazy.

I have a problem with lies. That really is the main point. If someone provides me with false information, I get pissed. I don't want millions of children being indoctrinated. I want them to think for themselves, make up their own mind, give them proper eductation. I think it will make the world a better place.

You can't deny that it isn't true that one holy book is more likely then another. Thus it is wrong to teach children that their holy book is. Lies kill people. Absolute belief is a horrible tool.

It is either its the Bible, the Qu'ran (with a "Q") whatever-book-it-was-Budda-wrote or the Origin of spieces

say for yourself: if someone comes in shouting "there's a 3 meter gnome on top of this house" and he firmly believes it... it doesn't harm anyone, right? let him believe whatever he wants... nothing's gonna happen... except for us looking at him in a very strange way...

there's nothing wrong with belief...

it is only when people start blowing them up to kill as much non-believers as possible, when believers start to storm buildings becuase of a drawing, when people begin, or try to begin, a "holy war", or beginning a cruscade and killing thousands (if not more) people, that religion becomes a bad thing...


say for yourself: what kind of harm has keeper, or anyone else who believes in their own religion, done to this forum???

Religion is just another way to look at the world. It's as crazy as saying that suddenly in a place x there was an explosion making a new dimension (big bang if I simplify it alot?). For me some are more believable than others and to me they all have the same possibilitys to be true (spelling?).
I hope what I just wrote makes any sense.

All i am saying is that you could be crazy because the syptoms of religion could be mental illness. Or that you cant truly know anything because you could be crazy. socrates put it best when he said

Keeper it doesnt matter if this is wrong the thing that matters is were never truly know. Case point from the matrix if you fell asleep and had a dream that was so real and you never woke up then how can you tell the difference between the real and the fake world. The point is how do you truly know that your crazy(or dreaming) and their is no god because wouldnt a crazy person think he is sane and use his insanity to justified god. You never know if your insane or sane so how can you say their are any absolute like god couldnt your belife be cause by insanity like delusion, schrofernia e.t.c.

All i am saying is we are capable of only knowing nothing because we might be insane. And keeper saying that your sane does not mean your sane because a insane person will say that he is sane.

1) Can you prove that God does not exist?

2) Can you prove that chemistry + physical laws and facts are true?

3) Can you prove that you exist?

Do this, and then you are free to call it madness, without being a hypocrite, claiming scientific methods to be the one, true 'God', and showing that we can atleast assume that you are not just some mad part of our minds, deluding us; a mere hallucination, trying to contradict and annoy us.

It would be annoying to sanity as you say is subjective so let use mental illness instead like psychosis, schiofernia, delusion e.t.c.
Unknown. See how do you know that your not dreaming or in a mental home. See you will never truly know if your mentally ill or not mentally ill and saying that mentally illness is definded by the majourity. Plus if the majourity of people were mentally ill you could say that makes them not mentally ill so then it goes that if majourity had a bad leg then it wouldnt be a bad leg. The point is keeper you could have a mental illness theirfore your belife in god could be a product of your mental illness and if you were mentally ill your never know your mentally ill.

Anwser me this keeper if you had schoifernia and you didnt know you had schoifernia couldnt your belife in god be cause by schiofernia or other mental illnesses? And if you say NO then wouldnt a person with schiofernia and other mental illnesses say NO too? So how could you trurly know that you have no mental illnesses because denial could be apart of your mental illnesses?

If you did anwser question above then their no way you could know if your mentally ill or not or if this sentanced i writing now is correct is unknowable. Infact i can say is i know nothing and that keeper you say you know something but really you dont well i dont know if this is true too.

Koran also is way to write 'Qu'ran'. It's faster to type, so it isn't a hard choice.

And what kind of silly question are you asking? Ofcourse one of the holy books could be true, but could they all be true at the same time? No. Is there more evidence that proves the koran (Qu'ran) is more true then the bible? No, at least not more that would make it, lets say, two times as likely.

I have to conclude that the possablity of a single specific religion being true is at least less then 10%. That is why I somewhat understand agnostics. They understand that in no case, especially in religion, one can be 100.00% sure.
