I was merely wondering who's translation he was using, if it was his own, Gayatari's, or someone else's.
Often such question can come across as interrogations. Gratuitous interrogations if you give no particular reason for asking what you are asking.

I am always asked such questions with no explanation and I am left to wonder what trap is being set for me.

If you have a problem with his translation, then maybe instead of setting a trap and waiting for this poor man to be caught in your didactic webs, perhaps you could be fair and give him some hint of what argument you want to spring upon him.

But if it is only idle curiousity, then why bother him about his choice of words?
