Hey guys(and gals), I've got a question about faith/religion for you all. It's not even a loaded one to start off an argument with christians, I promise!
Coming from a life that has had suprisingly little religious belief, I have to admit I dont really understand faith from the perspective of a believer. I've never really been on the inside of any spiritual belief system, so I've never experienced what it's like. Sure, I've been looking into religion/atheism since I heard someone using "I hate god" as a reason not to believe - but I've never really been inside a belief such system as ,but not limited to for the purposes of this post, christianity.
By inside a belief system I mean on a day to day basis: Not the big questions of morality or the afterlife - just the simple fact that one believes in some sort of deity/higher power.
So my question is this: How much does this mindset of belief impact your day to day lives? For example (leading questions, and probably not very good ones):
Does the fact that you have this belief system impact on your actions?
Would you act differently if you did not have this belief system?
Do events happen and the first thing that you think is "god is good"?
Does religious thought cross your mind at all outside of religious services?
I'm out of state on a holiday (woooo) for a few days so I'll respond too when I get back (non-theists can answer too! I sure know my non-belief has had an impact on my life).
-spoon (just realised how ambiguous this topic is, hope its not too hard [or boring ] to reply)
