What is your dream self like? *Studying how you act in Dreams*

I'm more than convinced that the non-lucid dream self is our real self, our intuition, our higher self, the person we are deep down inside without fear.

From looking at my dream self I've learned a lot more about myself.

What have you learned about yourself from studying your non-lucid dream journal?

I realize now that the more I act like my dream self ( intuition ) the more happy, peaceful, and relaxed I am. I feel like I'm more free the more I'm in tune with my dream self.

Well, I've found out that I'm a raving lunatic. lol, no, but I have found out that I like fun...a lot. I've also found out that I spend waaaaay too much time on the computer.

I dunno...I don't really buy the whole dream interpretation thing. I think a better measure of a person is what that person does in their lucids, with no limits imposed by anyone except the self. This really allows the person to draw their own lines outside of the expectations of society. From this, I think a lot more can be learned about the self.

      I like jumbo crabs
I enjoy dating multiple females at one time
I'm funny, and cool when I just be myself and act off my intuition

I miss my old job and and the crew I was working with
I like hanging with my cousins

      Among other things

Yeah, my dreams are mostly just sporadic heaps of randomness...very few connecting threads, if any. I guess I could say that I like food/fruit, but I kinda knew that anyway.

Or maybe its meant to be here as Hard Wired intended to put it here for the purpose of Religion/Spirituality, of which the spirituality part of this forum is most often neglected.

I must say, I disagree with this completely. Without fear? What about nightmares then? Dreams are fears, subconscious patterns and ego.
From my pov, it is the farthest it can get from whatever are 'real selves' is.

My dream self is exactly like the waking self. No split personality! Memories are messed up, but reactions are normal, the same as they would be in waking life.

Your right, if your having nightmares, then there is a fear that is manifesting in your dreams, usually from waking life...nightmares aren't the higher self. You can't be your higher self in dreams if there is fear. Once you've faced the fear, you WILL be more peaceful, happy, and relaxed in dreams.

When you have a dream where you are peaceful, relaxed , happy, and true THAT is your higher self. The happy you, there is no good or bad..or duality at all in my eyes, it's all just experience.

Have you ever done meditation? This is how I figure it is:

After the conscious and subconscious mind, There's another layer. The cosmic mind, the universal mind, the you that doesn't think at all...if you've ever meditated with a quiet mind, you' understand that you aren't the thoughts you think...but rather your the thing that witnesses the thoughts. With a still mind, if you do this long enough, I hear you transcend the ego and exist in a state of pure awareness, bliss...the highest sate of enlightenment you can reach, the universal mind there are no thoughts, just connectedness, oneness. In actuality, thoughts are the lies. Oneness is really the only truth there can ever be.

Take a look at this picture.

The conscious mind is the tip of the iceberg, the bottom part of the iceberg is the subconscious mind. The universal mind is the water...the ocean.

I'm not saying ego is bad, it's not..it's to be enjoyed until you get tired of it, but there's also something else to experience that feels much better.

I'm also not saying thoughts are bad, no, in fact enjoy thoughts, positive thoughts...have fun in lucid dreams, because once you reach that no-thought universal mind zone full of bliss, I'd doubt you'd want to come back to normal consciousness.

But the point of all this is to let go of the fear...remove the fear completely.

Our whole society is built off of fear:

      fear of being a loser
fear of not getting the job you want
fear of being ridiculed, labeled crazy
      fear of death
fear of someone breaking into our house and stealing possessions.
      fear of being labeled gay
fear of just being the real you in social situations.

Fear is the invisible prison cell for your mind..that's how we've been manipulated for so long. AND YOUR THE WARDEN of this prison cell, when will you release yourself and finally be free.

Study your dreams, pin-point what it is exactly that you fear...and then face them. For example, if you find out in your dreams that you deep down hate clowns, go see a clown show in waking life, shake his hand or something, face your fears....once you do this you will feel a sort of mini-high, you will feel 5x better than you did before when you feared clowns. The same thing happened to me with socializing, except i actually traced my first thoughts from smoking cannabis.

Fear of terrorism. Fear of foreigners. Fear of swine flu. What I learned from lucid dreaming is to conquer fear. It seems that fear manifest to me in dreams as a large powerful cat like a tiger. I started out being afraid but I've been working on it. At first I would hide in a dumpster underneath a bunch of folding chairs and he'd come for me. His big powerful head sniffing around just inches from my face. Then one time he came and I was holding someone's baby. I left the baby on the ground for him to eat so I could run away. The other night I put a collar on a tame tiger who had his head in my lap (in my dream).

I'm not always human in non-lucids. Sometimes I run on all fours. Sometimes
I run into bad people, and I kill them. Sometimes I feel as if I'm unravelled
across a long stretch of space, and it feels good. My behavior doesn't appear
to be any different, regardless of whatever physical form I happen to be in at
the time. I run into people every now and then that I do admittedly wish
would die before my eyes, but I'm not the one pulling a sword out and
setting their head free from their shoulders (in real life, see). I do far more
saving and protecting in dreams, which is what I feel my real life
responsibility is here to my family and friends.

I also wander. I love wandering. I love exploring.
I'd say my answer should be the same, then, as Arutad's, as I cannot think
of anything I've done in dreams that I feel at odds with myself on.

Society is controlled by fear, by boundaries, by rules, by limitations just like the movie the matrix...when are you ready to wake up to the real reality.

Do you understand why Neo was able to stop sentinels with his bare hands in "the real world"? in the matrix reloaded, If you don't know by now you must watch the matrix trilogy again....there's a huge philosophy behind those movies. Specifically coming from Buddhism.

Actually, it was supposed that the "real reality" was just a secondary Matrix
in which the human beings would more or less be fooled for good into believing
that they were beyond the machine's system. The actual "real reality", then,
would have been another step beyond that world. The machines were clever,
you see? In any case, that was one of the popular ideas that flew around for
      a while.

[Edit] Actually, you went offtopic in your own thread, so, no skin off my back.

I believe you're putting to much significance to the words. There is no absolute truth or "really the only truth there can ever be" as you said it. The term truth is, among every other possible one, also a result of a human experience. Don't get pulled into this one way thinking, which seems all lovely at the beginning, but before you know it, you start shaking your head at anyone who disagrees.

And I found two of your statements in contradiction. Which is 'higher' then: the awareness of the thoughts and their release; or a thougts' dance through an unconscious mind?

Seems to me you're saying: if you have bad dreams, study Jung or Freud; if you're having peaceful ones, that is your true self? Is it really?

Btw, I hope you don't mind I'm not actually answering your thread question, cause I'm obviously missing your point, but I'm trying to see it.

No I'm saying that if you have nightmares/bad dreams your higher self is not at peace, and obviously YOUR not at peace.

You get rid of your fears, and your higher self IS at peace...and in turn YOUR at peace if you act off your intuition.

My whole point is get rid of the fear...whatever it may be, the more fear you get rid of the more you are the peaceful version of your higher self...... and the more you act like your higher self ( without fear ) the more you feel good. The more you feel good, the more you enjoy life and everything else. The more you are your higher self ( without the fear ) the quicker you can manifest what you want in waking life.

It's like when I take Percocets, I feel really good..BLISSFULLY good. You can feel the exact same way without drugs the more you get rid of any fears you have...while you may disagree, most of us have fears that we're unaware of at the moment, for example ...death..

or a fear we may have had as a child that's hidden deep within us. Studying dreams may work out these fears.

Or another example...how do you act around new people that you meet..is it anyway the same way you act when your by yourself ( which is the REAL you )

Our higher self is basically an extension of us...the soul if you will. It's always at a state of peace unless of course you have some fears in waking life that will automatically transfer over to your higher dream self. Just like unawareness in waking life transfers over to unawareness of dreaming life. So being in fear in waking life, makes your higher self be in fear. Fear controls emotions....fear controls your soul. The point is that fear is a prison for your mind/emotions/soul.....the more fear you get rid of the more you are freeing yourself from the prison. But it's up to you ..your the warden, so no-one else can free you except you.

When your at one with the universe, or universal mind ( meditating ) you don't have any fears...because you don't have any thoughts...and it's the most peaceful, relaxed, happiest version of you that you can possibly get.

That's why people meditate...to get a small "hit" or "fix" of that feeling of peace and serenity in them from all the stress and problems of daily life. It's like a drug, except it doesn't work instantly.

Thanks for putting your time into this. I do study my dreams, I practice meditation daily, I enjoy my life ; but still we disagree in things regarding awareness and fear being the only thing that imprisons us.

Come on! What if Martin Luther King said: "I kinda have a dream... nah, I don't wanna talk about it."
