Hi everyone,
Lately it seems my mother is becoming more and more forgetful of even simple things.

I went to This Medical Exam Site to try and learn what to do.

Does anybody have any help or other sites of interest?

Does you're family have history of alzheimer's disease?
Their are lots of thing that decrease memory from stress to brain lesions. I would not worry statistically speaking it proberly just poor memory skills, as we get older we lose concentration causing our memory to decrease if you have a poor memory.

I don't know much about the medical concept of the disease, but I know that it is something to do with a buildup of something in your brain, which causes gaps in the memory portions of the brain. Alzheimers can be fought by increasing awareness.

For someone who is losing their memory, they would have no recolection of how they got to the present moment, therefore from their first person perspective, the past several years could have never happened, and they were functioning up until now in a sort of "autopilot" mode. Get him to become more aware. If he has alzheimers, I'm sad to say there's not much to do about it. But Alzheimers is a physical brain disease. Loss of memory is just as simple as increasing consciousness throuout the day, sort of how you would practice RC's. That would actually be an excellent practice for him.

I would ask you're parents to learn mnemonics. You can't fight alzheimer's disease it is too powerful, you can get checked for it. If you're parent does have it then their nothing you can do.

Okay the tops is wrong, look in wikipedia. Well Alzheimer can be reversed in rats by drugs and something called deep brain stimulation when you're asleep, however it will take awhile for the treatment to be wide spread. So their is some hope for the future.

Yes Alzheimer's diease is passed down by genes. If you're parents don't have the disease you're unlikely to have the disease.

Unlikely, but still a possibility, so don't rule it out. Keep an eye out for it.

I read an article about new scientific facts that help ppl with alztheimer in Scientific American.
It said that we all lose parts of memory from an early age , but we are not aware of it because we use only a bit of our memory.
However in early ages , this continuous loss reaches the part we usually use , therefore , we forget.
The best way to fight it is to force the brain to produce new memory cells, by trying to "exercise" this part of our brain.
A simple , yet very effective way to do this , is to solve crosswords , or writing a diary.

I don't remember in which month's Scientific American i read it , but i'll look it out and i'll post again.
