I have only had one Lucid Dream in my life to date and I did not understand the significance of it at the time. Around the age of 19 I used to just take 2 hour naps during the day because I enjoyed dreaming during the day. The dreams were always crazy and I could remember them when I woke up.
One time I became aware I was dreaming and started jumping on the roofs of cars parked out in the street.
I didn't know what Lucid Dreaming was at the time and shortly my life changed and so did my sleep patterns.
This was about 13 years ago. After seeing Inception I did more research on dreams and stumbled my way to Stephen Lebarge's book. For about a week now I have been keeping a diary as well as conducting hourly "awareness" exercises and hope to be lucid in a few weeks.
UPDATE 05-12-2012
I've been gone for awhile so I'm resetting my LD count down to ZERO. Lately it's been the truth. It's been long enough for me to even bother that I'm just starting over from scratch! May 1st I started my dream journal back up and won't try state checks until the 14th.
