Where are my other four senses?

When I'm dreaming I generally only experience 1 sense. Sight. I therefor find it exiting when I have dreams in which I can Touch and hear. When I say I can hear in most dreams, I can tell what the noises are (for example, I know its raining without seeing it, and I can tell what people are saying) But its like listening to my own thoughts. (Which I guess it is. :P) A few nights ago I had a dream that was very vivid, sound wise. As for touch, I can only remember experiencing it once, When I stuck my finger into a candle. I can not remember ever experiencing taste or smell. Basically I only experience hearing in my most vivid dreams. Is there any way I can gain these senses?

Also, how do your senses behave in dreams? I know that for me, when I can hear, It sounds like everything is happening right next to my ears.

I had a snooze earlier which ended up taking me into a lucid dream. Like you said, sight tends to be the only sense I use in dreams, but this one seemed very stable so I tried out touch. (I heard that's a good way to improve dream vividness, feeling stuff)

I ejected a tape from a car radio and played about with that in one hand. It was really strange because I'd never intentionally done that (felt something) in a dream before and the sensation was kind of intense.

Later on, there just happened to be a jam sponge cake sitting there, so I ate it. It was so delicious I made a thread about it in this forum :)

So far, any senses other than sight I've used have been more intense than normal. I recommend trying a cake. seriously :)

I'm the same way in my dreams. The only sense I experience is sight. I can have conversations with people, but I don't hear them, I just know what they're saying. And I never remember tasting, smelling, or feeling anything in a dream. In fact, usually even my vision is somewhat blurry.

Now, a few nights ago I had my second LD, and the first thing I did when I became lucid was spin around for a few seconds. When I stopped spinning, everything was very clear. I could see individual blades of grass, and the detail on a pinecone from 10 or so feet away. It was pretty cool. After a few seconds, though, I lost interest in the clarity and took off flying. After that, I either went back to "normal dream vision" or I just didn't pay any attention to the clarity.

I'm hoping that as I get more LDs, I'll be able to take some time to focus on my other senses. I'm thinking that if I focus on touching, hearing, tasting, smelling things, etc, in my lucid dreams, those senses might even become a part of my regular dreams.

Pay more attention to your other senses in in waking life.

Practice, in moments when you have complete focus on your senses.

theres a link that scott stride talks very in depth about LDS and the ones he uses(i assume) and when.

i use Niacinamide 500mg, Melatonin 3mg(ive taken up to 3), Ginkgo Biloba 120mg, Quest Super once a day (its a multi vitamin with vit a c d e b1 2 3 6 12, a bunch of other stuff like zinc and iron. but the reason i bought it was cause its got 50mg of choline bitartrate which is good), i also take Acai berry capsules but thats unrelated i think (just anti oxidant).

im going to order some 500mg choline caps off the internet 4 bottle for 30$.
also dont smoke pot that just kills dream recall, i did like a couple days ago and i didnt record any dreams for like 4 days

I agree. When I am lucid and have things in my hands they have a weird feeling. Sometimes kind of uncomfortable. I have found though that picking things up and interacting with the dreamscape makes things more vivid and interesting. I have heard of someone really going with this and eating various dream objects.

I would think that you can improve your perceived dream senses by just interacting with the environment. Knock on stuff or break it to hear it. Feel everything. It will probably make the dream more cohesive too.
