How many of you oneironauts out there find that it is easier to obtain lucidity during the wee hours of the morning? I know it is silly to take a nap that early, my wife thinks it's kind of annoying, but it really refreshes your mind and gives you more energy throughout the day!

I am currently taking an eight o'clock class that goes on until nine twenty. Then I have about an hour and a half until my next class in which I can sleep...precious, precious sleep. The other day I had my first true LD during that time. I have had some in the past but none quite as realized as this one. I used the reality check of sticking your fingers through a solid surface, in my dream I used my coffee table (which was also another affirmation of my dreaming state because I haven't one), then I awoke inside the dream. Walking around in my dream body was like driving a very large and awkward craft. I began to laugh really hard, perhaps I was laughing in reality? Regardless, I decided to run at the wall as fast as I could knowing that I have the ability to manipulate solids and pass through them. The best way I can describe the feeling is like pushing your hand through thick mud or sand at the beach. It was solid when you pressed harder but when you pushed softly it gave way. I ran through the wall and ended up in the apartment next to mine. There were very strange people there who weren't very surprised with my ability to pass through solids. There was child there, no older than four or five, that kept looking at me like I was insane. To prove to everyone that what I was doing wasn't normal I took on a pair of gloves and stuck my hand into the child's skull. It was just like the table and the wall before. My hand passed into his skull and yielded no response from the rest of the people there. Disappointed, but altogether unaffected by their disinterest, I went out onto the balcony outside of the apartments. I wanted to see if I could fly next, which has been something that I have really been yearning to try. I did a quick reality check by poking a finger through the palm of my hand, then began my attempts at flying. At first, I could only hover for a few seconds then slowly drift back towards the ground. After a few minutes of this I was able to control the amount of time in the air. It was an incredible feeling, quite unlike anything I could ever accurately describe. I flew all around the parking lot, from there to the street, then from there to the baseball field.

Then there was a sound that cracked across the sky. I was stuck in mid-air, which was strange because I figured I'd at least fall to the ground if something bad happened. But I was stuck there, confused and weird. I woke up and had to check myself a few times to make sure what was happening was real. My wife had gotten home and I ran to her and hugged her. I asked her if she was really there, which she was, and we both began laughing. It was extremely odd, probably the weirdest thing that's happened to me in months. Perhaps I should continue this routine of waking up, going to class, then coming home for a quick snooze/sleep study. I want to perform a study on myself comparing the differences in nighttime sleep as opposed to daytime. So far, I've been able to distinguish a notable difference in daytime dreams. They're usually more realistic in the sense that I am usually doing something in my dream that I normally do...they're not boring necessarily, just not tremendously exciting.

Anyhow! What I ask of you - dreamers - Which do you prefer, daytime sleeping or nighttime? Do the dreams you have during these times differ in any way or is obtaining lucidity easier then? Thanks for your contributions to my research.
