Thread: I t hink my LD method is unusual... is it?

I don't think it's unusual, you just may be a natural Lucid Dreamer... That is my thoughts on it! (which i think would be awesome)

Oh, and I forgot to mention, once I had a three-year dream... when I woke up I expected to be disoriented, distressed, depressed, violent, spontaneous, or in some way batshit insane... nothing. When I wake up I'm totally normal. I remember everything, but I know it's a dream, I remember as much as I normally would have about the last few days and the previous years of my life, and everything back to normal... not even any longing for the previous world I was in... which was inspired by The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy... so it was a bit overwhelming when I first went in... anyways, I have a couple theories on this...

1) I don't long for anything from the dream because I know I can go right back that night if I really want to. I usually don't, though. Far too many possibilities.

2) The plain white room with black furniture I "wake up" in and "fall asleep" in acts as a barrier to help me get back to my normal self and negate any feelings of disorientation because of how the room never changes and it feels like I've just blinked when I open my eyes in front of the laptop.

Also, I do feel pain in my worlds. However it's more of a dull pressure than anything else, nothing too uncomfortable, or I wouldn't be able to go through a lifelike Grand Theft Auto IV... Anyways, it's not my choice that it's a dull pressure, it just is, always has been, and I can't change it.

Oh, and with my laptop (in dream), I just sort of have a vague document of what the dream is like, and it turns up exactly how I want it. I could write "an attractive woman" and it would come up with the exact picture in my head, whereas there are millions of attractive women in the world and even more that could be made in my head. I'm not sure why, I think it's just my mind has a bit of trouble actually MAKING the dreams happen, it knows what I want, just not sure how to do it... so it made the laptop so I could design it and my mind would actively make the little things in the world (which it could do), while the big things were already put in design so they were already made when I started. I'm not sure how clear that sounded, as it's a difficult message to get across... but, you know what I mean, right?


One more thing... if, on the word processor I go to file/open I can view all of the dreams I've ever had. If I open it the exact directions come onto my processor and all I have to do is press file/save to enter it in and relive it. So, of course, it's becoming fairly difficult to name dreams by now . Recently I've redone it so images from the dreams come up instead... I name it then and decide on a moment to see after I'm done.

Alright, I'll add more about it as I remember... it's become so ordinary that I can't really think about it, you know? It's like examining the sky on a clear day.

You can make them last as long as you want
You type all the details of the dream you want to happen into a laptop, and it comes out perfectly as you wanted
This laptop even has a name and save function
It never fails
You remember all dreams
You even have a list of every dream you've ever had on the laptop
You can have year+ long dreams at will, with no disorienting side effects
Something confusing about little and big details, didn't really get what you were saying
You can relive any and all dreams you've ever had
You've understood ALL of this since you were five
This is ordinary, read boring, to you


You can understand if I flat out don't believe you? This to me is clearly a desperate attention seeking series of claims, trying to make yourself out to be the perfect lucid dreamer, better than anyone else here. Which also explains your name, imawesome.
This just isn't how the brain works. I believe there are natural lucid dreamers, there are a few that frequent this forum, but none of them claim to have the complete god-like control over their dreams that you do.
And all this in only your first 2 posts on this forum. Can you spell 'troll'?

This sounds a little too perfect to me... If it is true true though... Wow, then you are a very, very, very lucky guy.

If anything, I would think this is more like astral travel than lucid dreaming.

This white room made up of mostly white elements/features is your safe zone/hub and the few black elements that more or less control what is to happen next represents the astral plane.

If its the truth of course.

No, your reaction is exactly what I expected from people... I don't understand WHY it is, or HOW it is... but it is. If you don't believe me, that's fine, if you do, that's fine, too. I just wanted to ask if this was unusual, because none of my friends can do it... As for the first two posts thing, I just learned about lucid dreaming a year or so ago and really wasn't interested in it (even though I knew I could do it) until now when I became interested in neuroscience (I'm interested in fairly random things for periods of time... last time I wanted to learn to program) and wanted to know if my control was unusual or not. Anyways... yeah, that's about it. All I know about it is it started after I fell down some stairs and cracked my skull open, so it could be like those people who start tasting colors or something... only way more fun.
I don't understand what happened and I don't want to.

Secondly, I don't think astral travel can put you in The Raiders of the Lost Ark, can it?

Astral travel can put you anywhere, anytime

If you want to learn about a historic event, the best way to do so is through astral travel. Therefore i would presume that if you can relive an event past, you can also relive an event created.

Then I think I'll have a sword fight, then I'll put myself into Twilight and kill all those annoying vampires... (I'll need to attack them from the front, they disappear if you try looking at them from any other angle)

Didn't you just say that you could control your dreams perfectly? The sentence above is a clear contradiction to that statement.

We have a few naturals floating around this site. It is cool that you have developed a repeating scenario that accompanies your lucid dreams. Does this scenario ever feel like a limitation to you?

Xel, it's a joke. You've never read/watched the Twilight books/movie, have you? The characters are all one-dimensional and all are severely limited in their emotional range. Therefore you can only see them in one way, there is no other way of seeing them. I can see them fine, I was making fun of the books.

And, Robot, no, it doesn't. It ensures nothing happens that I don't want it too (although I can't really change anything in this beginning room). It's actually really great. Once I spent hours in that room designing a whole universe. Besides that I actually design lots of houses (mostly designed for myself, and being very modern, colors being black, white, and bits of bright color around the rooms that really stand out), boats (I once built a luxury ship... it was about the size of Switzerland), aircraft, towns (actually sometimes I'll design a small town for me, my friends, and people I like, and just live there for couple months. Then sprout swords/maces/whatever-I-want out of my arms or something and kill everyone and leave.), cities, worlds, cultures, religions. I'm just glad I can separate the dream world from reality, or I'm sure I would have developed some kind of insane god-complex or something.

So, no, it doesn't limit me, it helps me focus my brain on designing something I want rather than being distracted by rejecting something I don't want.

If not for your description of this room that you go to as a transition between dream world and real world, I would think you flat out fabricated this whole story.

But it just so happens I had an experience in a dream just like your room. I was in like a spaceship type area, and so were millions of other people, as far as the eye could see. I also saw a few friends around me. And everybody was standing around or just exiting whatever dream they were in and walking toward their own special pod that would take them back to the real world. And sure enough, all at the same time, we got ported up, and I woke up. So maybe just maybe, I can believe this rediculously ideal situation you're claiming is real.

Like you, I've always LD'd I don't remember dreaming any other way. When I was a kid I had a filing cabinet in my mind. I had paper copies of the dreams I wanted. I just opened the cabinet, pulled out the file, and the dream started playing. Yours is just a little higher tech than mine. All us natural lucid dreamers have something like that in our heads that we developed as small children. I probably would have had a laptop, if laptops had existed when I was that young. LOL, the thought of a 5yr old with a laptop makes me feel old.

No, I didn't have a laptop, but my dad sells fax machines and computers so I knew about that stuff way earlier then anyone else I knew. No, really I think it's ridiculous that 5-7 year olds are getting cell phones, iPods, and laptops now.

As for the filing cabinet, that's pretty cool. Did the different drawers have different types of dreams? Like action, fighting, building, that kind of stuff? Did yours last as long as you want like mine? If they did how did you get out?

imawesome, so your dream lasted 3 years but how long were you actually asleep? and in this dream do you remember going to sleep and waking up every day for 3 years? and if you did, did you have LDs in your LDs?! i know that sounds crazy but it's kinda hard for me to understand that

i'm a natural lucid dreamer myself...i've encountered lot of sorta weird situations in my life related to lucid dreaming...that i still can't fully understand today because of the level it can get to with myself growing up(i'm 19)...and i think that not knowing exactly to which point we can get..with lucid
dreaming is the real magic... But being able to do what you can do...it's not that i don't believe you... but then what is reality to you?...should be boring huh! Yup! me too i've been lucid dreaming ever since i was a child..but can't tell at what age it started..i just feel like it has always been in my system umm...but still...

Hm, a natural, not so uncommon, and I wouldn't say your control is that good, considering you say you "stay" in dreams for any time you wish, rather than make it look like that. Omnipotence becomes common, so not that weird if you are natural, for anything you will to happen, to happen.

I believed you until the "three year long lucid".

This story seems to get increasingly ridiculous as it goes on, especially when you said you could only see characters from one dimension, and then when XeL called you out you said that you were making fun of the 1-dimension emotions of characters in Twilight >.>
