anyone had to be tested before???

Hi! I’m new here so please bear with me while i try to explain my situation. so i'm 19 years old and i have been influencing dreams for as long as i can remember. I think its because me and my family have this thing where the first thing we’d do every morning when we woke up would be to tell each other our dreams and then look up the meanings in my mums dream interpretation book – so i’ve been remembering my dreams for ever! flying is my thing, even though i wouldn’t been fully lucid i would just start flying cuz i knew i could. looking back now i have been influencing my dreams a lot like when i was having a nightmare i would make it stop, or if i was in my dream and i really wanted something to happen but the dream was leading somewhere else i’d be like ‘hey, wait a sec I’m not finished!’ In the last couple of years i started having lucid dreams but i would get so excited i woke up immediately - like as soon as i realised it everything would go really bright and it felt like i was being pulled away. so i started researching it and found a podcast of this lady who was able to fully pre-program her dreams so she could do whatever she wanted and i got so excited so i have been sort of praticisng for a while with some success. my problem is that when i become lucid i sort of fall back asleep again or have false awakenings where i think ive woken up and am telling everyone about having a lucid dream LOL! The other thing she said in the podcast was that she spoke directly to her subconsciousness. So i decided if i became lucid i’d try that too. Then i had my first lucid dream where i didn’t wake up straight away, and i was in the middle of a big navy battle and there were gunships and people shooting and stuff and i was trying to swim to my rescue boat (i always have hollywood action style dreams like that!) and then i became lucid and i’m treading water in my dream thinking ‘ okay, i want to talk to my subconsciousness’. So this staircase appears in the middle of the water and this lady is standing there and i told her to take me to my subconsciousness so i can speak to it. And she says “are you sure you’re ready to take the necessary steps to do this?” and i say “yea i am. its just like anything else you want to achieve, you have to really want it” (what the??? I didn’t really have that much control) and then i have a false awakening and i’m going around telling everyone that i had a lucid dream. Then this red dragon appears and in my dream he was my best friend (you know how you just know things in your dreams right) so i’m wondering whether or not to tell him i had a lucid dream. So i do tell him, and he goes totally Confucius on me and says “What you think you can do is like when you think you can break through a wall, only to find out its a bulwark” (seriously, he said bulwark). But i totally understood what he meant – he was trying to say that i think i can do it but its harder than i think. (do what though? Lucid dreaming?) So that was last year. I decided that the next time I became lucid I wanted to talk to the dragon man again cuz i wanted to ask him what he meant. Then, a couple of days ago i have my first really controlled dream. I became lucid and I turned to the nearest person in my dream and i said “I want to talk to the dragon man”. And the dream character was really obnoxious pretending he didn’t know what i was talking about, but i was persistent and i said “I know i’m dreaming. I want to speak to the dragon man. Tell him I’m ready to take the necessary steps!” so eventually he lead me to this office room and told me to go through– it looked like a reception room and it had a picture of a dragon on the wall, and this lady was sitting there and she told me that i had to take the test and she took this container off her desk and started sorting through it mumbling all this crap while she was looking at me and i said “hand on a sec, can you write that down for me?” (because when i read stuff in dreams its easier for me to remember what it said, and i really wanted to remember every detail of this dream when i woke up) so this guy appeared and started writing things down for me but he was using his left hand. And i said “what you’re left handed, what is this place?” and he started running his had through this stream of sand that was pouring out of one of the walls and he said something really ambiguous like “how do we know what anything is?” and i said “well this is my dream right? But who decided that you’d be left-handed?” i just started laughing because i was so excited that i finally had another lucid dream and i managed to stay in it. meanwhile the lady had put the test on a table near a window and i was just leaning on the table looking out the window waiting for it to be finished and we started talking about my other lucid dreams i had and the lady and the man started laughing and i said “yea i’m way more in control than last time” and it was all just this big joke at how crap i had been at controlling my lucidity before. So then i said “oh, i meant to ask you, do you know what the time is in the real world” (because i had decided that when i became lucid i would try and see if i could find out) and the guy said “ofcourse. Its our job to know. And on the wall there was this really weird clock which i couldn’t read too well, the only thing i could remember was 11.30 so i just guessed that must be the time. And then i could feel myself being pulled away from the dream (i was waking up) and i said “hang on, what about the test? Is it tiger mountain? (thats the only thing i remember seeing him write down when i asked him to write down what they were doing – but i cant remember if its tiger mountain or tiger moth but something like that). But anyway i woke up and i never got my answer, and i haven’t had a lucid dream since so i can ask what the hell was that all about. Just wanted to know what you guys think?

damn; that's intense. the most recent dream I can remember being in control of involved aliens. I didn't have near as much control as you seemed to have in yours though. The most control I had was when I demanded of myself that I grab a bat to defend myself. oh, I'm 19 too by the way.

yea i know its making me feel weird cuz it feels like im in control, but the dc's just do random things on their own and im still sort of just going along with the plotline so its kinda like im not in control too!?! wow cool its good to know theres people the same age as me here ! seriously, my friends think im psychotic so im not gonna bring it up with them again...

That was my question too. what time was it when you woke up? Also I believe that the dragon man is your dream guide (way cool). You should attempt summoning him on your own next time. Just imagine the dragon man and turn around to see him.

haha nah it was 7 in the morning when i woke up but yea that woulda been cool! yea i was thinking that maybe the dragon guy might've been my dream guide which would be awesome - but ive been reading some posts on this site and it might take a while for me to contact him again if he doesn't think im 'ready' or whatever - but it doesn't mean im not gonna try! cool it seems like 19 is the age for lucid dreaming! or at least posting on online forums about it

i'm also 19, so it definitely seems like there's a trend here your lucid dream sounded awesome! i've no idea what any of it could have meant though... I'm actually really impressed with the length of it and your dream control! Good work! I think it's a good idea to have a few more lucid dreams and slowly use them to get a better understanding of the past ones. Though it might just end up adding more questions than answers, I guess it's worth a shot!

oh ya! when i have kids i am totally gonna do what your family did with you, i want them to know the importance of their dreams as little kiddies! you definitely have an upper edge on lding if you've been able to remember and influence your dreams pretty much your whole life, you know the "feel" of your dreams before you even start to try to ld, pretty lucky!

(they obviously dont remember any of theirs, dont have/remember lucid dreams, so they cant appreciate...) every time i hear that i think back to a couple years ago when i read on an article on LD (im pretty sure many of u heard this too) : "we spend about a third of our lives sleeping. wouldn't it be wonderful if we can take control of our dreams and use that time to ponder/adventure/meditate so that our real lives flow more smoothly. *With the plus side of not 'wasting' all that time*. " anyways, interesting story. good luck with ur next LDs and answering ur questions xD but i wouldn't REALLY trust DC's all that much

I'm 15, I feel odd As 13fate said, don't trust DC's too much. If you suspect that one DC is your dreamguide, ask the DC something about yourself, something personal. A DC's answer is usually gibberish. If they answer correctly, try asking directly if they're your dreamguide. You'll know when they are.

No way, 18 is the best age for LDing, though in three months I'll probably agree with you all But from what I've read, controlling your own actions is already a big step forward. I only had one lucid, and it only lasted a second, before I woke up

Well I'm 38 and I'm having the best LDs I've ever had in my life! Hey, great dream! Thanks for sharing. I met my subconsciousness in my LD last night. I suggest you read the tutorials and try some of the techniques on here to improve your ability to become lucid

That is a wonderful dream! What it would seem (if it has not already hit you) is that you have this need to be tested, and not just a "fill-in-the-dot" test, like a real test of your abilities, perhaps even in a life and death situation (Hillman, 7 myths of the family) and would explain the dragon (slaying the dragon , saving the princess? ) This test could be one that you "take" in your dreams, or it could be one that you do in real life. I don't know much about you, or about how your life its working for you now (what I mean is what are you trying to get out of your life now, school? job? love? ect.) Try reflecting on this idea of a "test" and instead of asking a DC what the test is, demand that they give you the test, or close your eyes and think "I want to take the test" and see where the dream takes you. and please! update this thread or pm me about this, I am very interested in hearing how it works out.

Hmm, that's interesting i never thought about it like that. the way i saw it, is that the dragon dude might've been my dream guide, and he didn't think i was ready to control my dreams or something, so he wanted my to be tested. But yea, maybe its me that feels like i need to be tested. This year is my last year of my degree at university, and i went straight from highschool to uni and i really just picked a degree that was flexible because i didn't (and still don't) know what to do with my life. So maybe I had this dream because i'm still so unsure of everything? I'm just really frustrated right now because i haven't had a lucid dream since and i'd really like to so i can get some answers by talking to my dream guide or my subconscious or something. I'm 19 too... what the heck is going on here?? Maybe a re-uniting of old soul friends? As for the dream, it was really well explained and i imagined it quite vividly.... I have also had similar dreams, where i would be trying to find someone in my dream, only to find a painting of them instead. I suggest you look up what a red dragon symbolizes, and you may find what this character represents in your dreams.
