      Hi Help if you can

OK thanks for reading first off , I'm 29 years old and when I was younger I could Lucid dream or have a OBE any night of the week . In a OBE I had read when that most people try and create a silver rope/cord to keep them connected to their body . "Also supposed to prevent possesion if I remember right ." Well I never did do that I just freely went where I wanted and like other people Ive read on this forum I could verify I had been places out of body the next day when I'd confront someone about what they were doing the night before . OBE can be fun but in the long run it always seemed a little too nosey for me . "I never did make it to space like others have claimed allthough I would love to now". Lucid Dreams were by far my favorite ...I am a StarTrek nerd and the best way I can compare it in anything understandable to a noob is like haveing your very own Holodeck where anything is possible . Well anyways here is my problem .... I used to do this so much and never had a problem until I was around 20 .... No certain event caused this as far as I can remember ...but one night I felt a OBE coming on its own ... wasnt even trying for it ... Well instead of actualy leaving my body I was stuck ! I knew I was there I felt wide awake but my body was paralysed . I tried and tried to free myself but couldn't ... I then tried to wake myself and couldn't , I screamed and Screamed for hours it seemed and not a sound would come forth ..... Eventualy I gave up and accepted I would be like this until someone found me ....Well I did wake luckily I have a really good kitty that likes to jump in the middle of my chest in the middle of the night . So after that event I spent the next week wondering about what had happened . I decided to try to have a OBE on my own and the same thing happened . again I got a really good cat for wakeing me . Well anyways to this day I still have the for lack of a better term Locked In My Body OBE lol ...while I still find them terrifying I've learned to deal with them and even fight though them enough to scream so someone can pull me out . as for Lucid Dreaming well I havent recalled a dream in at least 4 years so I doubt any of them have been lucid . Anyways hopeing for some fresh ideas on why I might be getting stuck on this .

That is a bit of a mystery. Why would things suddenly change? Was there a change in your sleep habits around this time? I've heard that, in general, lucid dreams are more common in teenagers. Something to do with sleeping longer hours. We tend to dream less as we age, and wake more often throughout the night.

Don't worry about being trapped in your body. That is called Sleep Paralysis, and is fairly common. Extremely common around here. It should not be a barrier to going OBE or lucid. Lots of people actively seek it as a stepping stone to becoming lucid.

I'm guessing that your problem is purely one of expectation. Once you realized your body was paralyzed and you were trapped, you came to expect it. That's just my guess, I'm not trying to trivialize your problem.

Try reading around about other people's sleep paralysis experiences, and WILD techniques. You will find many OBE and WILD tutorials describe tricks to get out of your body once you find yourself stuck.

Be sure to check out the tutorials section:

And if people give you a skeptical hard time for your out-of-body beliefs, check out the Beyond Dreaming section. It should be more friendly and open minded.

Well I wondered about that because Ive read about other useing as the point of take off so to say where a immense weight is applied to you entire body causeing the paralysis .... I guess my problem is that I never have went through that before to obtain Lucid or OBE ... and dont know how to find a way past it and plain and simple it scares the shit out of me .... I will keep checking the forums and look up some of the tutorials your speaking of . Sorry If I bothered you but I am new to these forums as I just found them today and I see it as a tool to get help ...maybe posting some links to these tutorials would be helpful because I havent had much of a chance to look around yet .

Don't worry about bothering people. I love this shit

I get "stuck" like that all the time, and know how scary it can be. Especially because I get crazy hallucinations along with it, such as shadowy figures in the room, demons attacking me, and crazy noises blasting through my head. Freaky stuff. It scares the shit out of me, too.

Try rolling out of your body. When you find yourself paralyzed and stuck, relax and take a deep breath. Then, imagine yourself rocking back and forth like you are about to roll over on the bed. Keep trying to imagine the sensation as realistically as possible. Eventually, you can roll to the side, and separate from your real body, into a dream body.

That is just one trick. The basic idea is to disorient yourself so you can move your attention away from your real body and into a new dream body.

Well I'm glad I've never had the demons or shadowy people hovering over me lol .....but I have OBE'd during this and been right by my side and seen the look of terror on my face and I think that was enough to make me want to fix the problem . I will try rolling as you say next time it happens in fact I might try to do it tonight so wish me luck .... and maybe it is because I'm getting older now I dont know but I do miss being able to do this without any effort .

      Hmm 1 night down .

Well tried last night and failed .I came close but instead of rolling out I actualy just fell asleep lol ....But some interesting effects ...I tried the rolling tatic .... I modified it a bit ....I imagined myself on the ocean and felt the waves and tried to make them intense enough to like throw me from the ship (hopeing that would toss me into my dream body) not sure if it would have worked because I fell asleep .... but I think I will try this again . I used an audio file that I found on one of the tutorials you sent me . I think this is what stopped me but I'm not sure , I just know the voice that wasnt so subliminaly placed in the music kept freaking me out and then Id hear other noises that would pop me out right before I attained what I was working for . Im going to attempt again tonight useing the same method ....I'll at least try this for a week and see if I can break it .

      Another question

Do you think its better to be extremely tired while trying to do this or better to do it when your wide awake? Ive been going about the extremely tired way this week and failed twice so far .
