Any ideas with getting my heat vision to work!?

Just the other night I had an LD. You know there is nothing better than doing a reality check in your dream for it to fail!! So anyway, i thought "Lets try the Superman heat from your eyes thing and X-ray thing" I concentrated on an alarm on a house and wanted it to set on fire but it just didnt. Each time I tried to concentrate i could feel the dream ending so i stopped. Then I tried XRay vision and concentrated and it started to work slowly but again I could feel the dream ending so I flew off.

Does anybody have any tips for these 2 powers to work? Possibly verbal commands?

I am jealous of my friend who had his 2nd LD ever the other night - he was using his mind to pick up cars, throw them around, lift up girls skirts, lift up a group of fighting people in a bar! I have to try that. He said at first it was difficult and he had to use his hands to push the air to move things but then he could do it mentally. Soooo jealous but then again he had trouble flying and I can fly easily in dreams, although last time I tried to fly a girl to safety, I couldnt lift off the ground - most embarressing!

You could always try the traditional "work god damn it!!!" or of course the spiderman way, "shazam!!!"

I've never dared to try throwing things around in my dreams I'd probably hit them into myself or something :P
