Yup, I had my first one! W00t!
I was getting over a stomach bug last night, so I wasn't planning on trying for a lucid dream at all, since when I'm sick my dreams are usually pretty traumatic involving mud, loud noises, explosions, strobing lights, etc., so I didn't think It would even be possible to have a normal dream. Anyway, my condition must have improved during the night, because I soon found myself arguing with my mom about whether a cup was half full of milkshake or a third full. Realizing that it was just plain weird to argue about something so obvious, I decided to do a reality check. I pushed my finger through my hand, then breathed through my pinched nose (which is one of the coolest things ever). After that I spent most of my time (about 3-5 minutes) just wandering around being amazed at how real everything was. I don't really have that great recall of it since I was still kinda sick and I had a headache when I woke up and I forgot to write it down for about 10 minutes, but I remember wandering around in a daze rubbing my hands all over everything, then RCing again, etc. At one point I tried to make a coin levitate, but that didn't work. I did, however, manage (after about 30 seconds of trying) to teleport myself to the snack bar at my local summer camp and I held up the place by threatening to do who-knows-what to the girls who worked there unless they handed over all their twizzlers. I ate one, and it tasted real. Unfortunately, at this point the dream faded into a lower quality of lucidity where the fact that I was dreaming was way in the back of my mind, and after a little bit longer it faded into the next dream. Anyway, I'm psyched! I can actually do this! WooHoo! The cool thing is, I'm always forgetting to do RCs IRL, to the point where I thought some type of WILD would be my best bet for a LD, but I STILL got a DILD! Even when I consciously was thinking as I was falling asleep that I couldn't! That's gotta do wonders for you psychologically, which will make it easier to have LDs in the future, right? Anyway, even though I'm guessing I won't have one tonight (lightning striking twice syndrome, with me being so inexperienced and all), I can't wait to get back to sleep. I am officially excited!
