Can't keep from drifting off, even when I am fulyl aware of it happening, advice, thx

I have been using a hypnosis recording to increase my dream recall in preparation to lucid dream. Two nights in a row I have been too tired to maintain my focus I guess you could say..

The recording begins with about a 20 minute 'ride' through all the colors of the rainbow for relaxation..

Usually I can stay focused with no problems, but lately I keep drifting off... and I know its happening because I'll be at red then be at say, green for instance, skipping 5-10 minutes (orange and yellow)... I'll wake up and say "oh damn I drifted off, stay focused" sure enough I drift off and come back more times..

I figured this could be a great time to WILD as I'm already slipping in and out of sleep, somehow I need to keep my mind awake as I just can't seem to focus, even with the hypnotists deep bassy voice ringing my ears..

Anyone have any advice on how to turn this into a WILD? I've read all the tutorials here but It's like I have 3 seconds when I'm coherent enough to visualize or flick my fingers, then it fades to sleep... Almost like an addict trying to quit (staying awake) but eventually being overcome by sleep (drugs/alchohol) etc.... thats the best way I can describe it. Note: I have been attempting this on my couch now where I was hoping to not have that bed/sleep association.

      Thanks in advance...

At what time of the day/night are you attempting to WILD, and for long have you slept before you have attempted? It sounds to me that you are doing the right things, but you might not be in a REM cycle when you try to WILD?

WILD is actually self hypnosis according to my psychiatrist. I discussed it with him the other day, as he doesn't know much about lucid dreaming, or any of the techniques. So, there is nothing wrong with how you are doing it.
