My 3rd Lucid! This time i had a moment of control!

Ok, so i had my third lucid dream last night and i actually managed to do something before i woke. It still lasted only a matter of seconds but i think i'm getting better. What really surprises me is that i haven't been devoting much time to reality checks or even thinking about ld's in the past couple of weeks and i have had two ld's, more so than when i was actually trying. ha.

Anyway, this is what happened. I was having a very strange dream in which i was a man in a sexual situation with another man. I finished with this scenario and realized that i would like to take a shower. I turned around and i was standing in front of my shower at home.

I got in, turned on the water and i started thinking about what had just transpired in my dream. I thought, "If this was a dream, i'd make it alot better." I looked down at my legs and thought, "Hmm, i wonder if this IS a dream. It wouldn't hurt to ask someone."

I opened my shower door and looked out. There was a man with long black hair laying in my bathroom floor with his head propped up on his hand. He was facing away from me and i yelled at him, "Hey! Am i dreaming?" He turned and looked at me with a puzzled look on his face. At that moment i realized i was dreaming. "I am dreaming!" i yelled at him. He shook his head at me as if i were insane.

I jumped out of the shower and i just sort of floated there. I decided to move towards the man and so i floated in his general direction. I was high above him and looking down upon him. I was exhilirated by this floating experience and i knew i was going to wake up at any second if i didn't calm myself.

"Don't let me wake up!" i yelled at the black-haired man. "Spin!" he said to me and so i tried to spin but i couldn't really feel my body or make it do anything. I tried for a second to spin and the next moment i was sitting straight up in my bed.

I was so angry when i woke that i couldn't make myself stay longer but i am pleased that i managed to do anything at all before waking. This was my longest ld yet, about ten to fifteen seconds total from the time i became lucid until i woke myself up. I wish the spinning would have worked but i just couldn't control anything. ugh. But i suppose, all in all, i'm happy with my progress.

Anyone have anymore ideas for keeping control or controlling your dream body? I have such a hard time with that.

      That sounds really cool.
I always try to just imagine doing something and it happens, rather than trying to focus on my body to do something.
Dont know if that makes sense, but instead of trying to spin my physical body,I just pretend I have none, relax and try to spin around in my mind, and then it happens.

Congrats on your 3rd LD.. it's funny how when you relax in trying that sometimes they come easier!

I love how your DC tries to help you by telling you to spin!

As for control, I recommend getting used to what being lucid FEELS like by grounding yourself in your dreams.

I know when I first become lucid, I have to fight that initial rush of adrenalin. I do this by telling myself to calm down, breathing naturally (or a little slower) and I try to "ground" myself in the dream (i.e., make it as lucid as it can be) instead of immediately racing to do something before I lose lucidity.

One of the tricks I use to "ground" myself is to "touch" things. By touching.. I mean really "feeling" them. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc. (this also increases the vividness of the dream along with helping me remain in it longer).

You may also try to increase your vividness by confidently stating aloud "increase lucidity" or "clarity now".

Just remember that "the deeper the level of lucidity.. the better your lucid experience should be"

Thank you, Clairity. Your responses are always so helpful and for some reason, i always remember your advice in my dreams.

I actually had another ld last night. My fourth since january! And this one lasted about a minute! But, as you have advised against, i immediately tried to do something beyond my ability and woke myself. ugh. I'm making a new post.
