      rock star dream lucidity (SILD?)

This morning, my clock radio went off and the song "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf was playing. I woke up for a brief moment and went right back to sleep. However, I held onto the song into sleep and had a WILD. In the dream, I was singing "Magic Carpet Ride" on a stage in front of an audience. I was wearing some psychedelic but sophisticated clothes that probably would have looked cool in the years surrounding 1970 but would look ridiculous now. I had a short taste of being a rock star, but when the song was over I woke up and hit the snooze button. I went back to sleep and didn't have a WILD.

Did I just discover SILD? Maybe I'm not the first.

That's cool. Hopefully it will happen again. Maybe you should use that song again to wake up by.

Nah, it would still look good. 70's clothes were the best.

I saw Steppenwolf on PBS not too long ago, and the lead singer still looked pretty good (dressed all in black). I can't think of his name right now, I want to say Jay Silverheels but that's not it, that's the guy who played Tonto. What the hell is his name; I"m not going to look it up. I thought he was blind cuz he wore those dark glasses all the time. It will come to me later.

Edit: John Kay! It came to me in the shower. My SC to the rescue.

There aren't enough letters in the alphabet. SILD already stands for subliminally induced...

I had a rock star dream (well folk star) not too long ago

      LOL She made a joke!

Maybe you could call it a RSILD or a RILD? I've seen so many people wanting to be a rock star in lucids so maybe this one can make it

The crowd was a huge Steppenwolf audience, so I assumed I was Mr. Important. But then they turned out to be nonexistent people. Bastards. I'll make a point to have girls throwing themselves at the stage next time. Good idea.

This is hilarious; the dialog and how the host calls them Step In, Wolf. The song is as good as ever tho... That's a cool one to have a lucid to.

That is an alternate studio version of the song. It is the version one of the classics stations here plays. That performance was lip synched, but it is still cool to see video footage of Steppenwolf together way back then. The most amazing part of it, aside from the song, is how John Kay was actually able to come up with responses to that host. The host put on a very awkward interview.

This is a little off topic, but still related. I got chased by some of the security guards standing outside of Steppenwolf's backstage area at the Beale Street Blues Festival in Memphis a long time ago. I was a very drunk teenager at the time, and I obnoxiously kept trying to get the security guards to let me go back stage and meet the band. They got fed up and started asking me if I wanted to "blow Steppenwolf" so I got pissed and went off on them. They called some cops to come and get me, so I took off running and sprinted through the crowd while being chased by security guards and cops. They never caught me, but I didn't ever get to meet Steppenwolf. I still got to see them perform before the chase incident, and it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

Yeah, okay. I think you just had more convincing ways of getting the security guards to let you go backstage.
