I have been trying for lucids for about one month now. Admittedly, the last week and a half i have not been trying very hard. New boyfriend = hard for me to concentrate on a damn thing. I haven't been keeping my dream journal as i should. However, i did purchase the lucid dreamer by malcolm godwin (fantastic book, btw, if you haven't heard) and read a couple chapters over the past few days.
Anyway, i had a hilarious non lucid in which i actually woke myself up laughing and thought, i shall have to write this down so i don't forget. I grabbed my dream journal, jotted it down, drank a pepsi and went back to sleep. The next dream i had was my second lucid.
I am watching "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" but not on the tele. I am actually sitting on the set, on a couch, directly across from the actors. Will Smith is sitting on the couch next to a chubby girl in a white sweat shirt of the eighties/early nineties variety. He says to her, "I need to remember this is a dream."
She now has a large piece of paper in her hand that i recognize as a map. She puts it into Will's lap and says, "You could be dreaming right now. What kind of a dream is this?" He looks at her in disbelief and then down at the map in his lap. "Wait a minute," he says, "This is a dream!"
At that moment it dawns on me that I, too, am dreaming. "Yeah! It is a dream!" i say. I start to get that weird, excited, tingly feeling that also accompanied my first lucid and i know i am losing it. I remember what clarity said on the forums about my first lucid so i start to vigorously rub my hands on the couch. I feel it clearly but i am still too excited and i immediately wake up, my heart racing.
It's frustrating that i can't keep control. I thought my second time would be less exciting when the realization of dreaming came but alas, it was not. At least this time i had the sense to TRY to stay in the dream but without success.
I am extremely surprised at how quickly i had a lucid after starting my dream journal again and i think i inadvertently performed the WBTB technique which has been the only thing to work for me so far. Ah, anyway, just thought i'd share and beg some encouragement from you all. heh.
