Did you ever lucid dream before really learning about it?

I personally had never had one before I learnt about them, but there are many I've heard who have. What have your experiences with it been?

Oh yeah. I've had lucids before i ever knew about the penomena. They were so weird, when i woke up i thought they actually happened (one was about smoking weed, i woke up and thought i was still high) and then i realized it was a dream. Strange stuff.

Yup yup. I'm a natural. My control was horrible though.

I just knew I was dreaming and then woke myself up.

Then I learned about how you could master control and I was amazed.

I've only had 1 Lucid Dream before I learned what they actually were. Once I learned what they were, I was up to 2 - 3 month, then 2 - 3 per week a few months later. On that note, the poll is now evenly split 1/1/1/1.

I don't believe I ever had an LD before learning about them (or if I did.. I don't remember).

I had one lucid dream that I remember before I tried. The one I had before I tried was actually one of my best, with the most control.

      isn't that odd

      ^Probably

Thanks for the responses, it was interesting reading about people having (or not having) lucid dreams naturally and now I'm glad to have some stats cause I've always wondered about it in my short time of posting here

Good poll here, Blargh. In fact, had I not had my few LDs before DV, I never would have looked for DV. I had a couple of LDs before I read up on it and searched 'dream control' in Google.

I can only remember one dream from when I was a kid. Maybe 11 years old or so.

In the dream I was playing piano in my house and suddenly realized "Hey.. I hate playing piano. Why am I sitting around doing this?" Then I started looking around and eventually realized I was in a dream. And I remember wanting to wake up, because the dream was so boring, and I was frustrated because I kept having false awakenings where I went down to the livingroom and the piano every time

Yup, I can clearly remember one. I don't think I was even 10 years old. And there was absolutely nothing to the dream. I was just kind of floating in this vast empty space, all lit up with a white glow. And I was just there, existing, and I though "oh my god, this is totally a dream." And that was it.

Then a few years ago I stumbled upon a book about LDing, read a page, tried one of the super simple techniques for a couple days, and had an awesome LD the second night.

yes, only 3-4. nightmares as a little kid. i'd get scared, realize i'm dreaming, try to wake up, fail. it never occured to me to change the dream. i stopped having nightmares later, so no more LDs, until discovered the term lucid dream 2-3 years ago, Wikipedia. i got the LaBerge book from the library and half-ass attempts for a couple years, but didn't commit until July.

you know i have just this second realised that sometimes when i am having nightmares i would shut my eyes and try and wake up. it would work everytime as well. why have I never thought about controlling the dream instead of forcing myself awake?

I never had a lucid before learning about them. The possiblity had never occured to me I just wanted to control the type of dream I had. I'm really glad I looked it up though

I used to have lucid dreams from time to time before I even knew there was a name for it. I always thought it was quite normal to realize I was dreaming in a dream every great once in a while; I never knew it was anything special. Only problem was I was never able to control my dreams, and thought it was odd but figured it was just the way things were. Recently, I have been gaining dream control now that I have learned that it is possible. In my case, the key just seems to be patience and a great deal of persistence.

Always had them as a little kid, that is the only reason why I was able to find this site, because I wondered if it was natural or if I had super powers when I was younger.
