A Dining room full of strangers

I dreamed that I was sitting in my living room when I saw someone race across the doorway to my foyer. I got up to investigate and realized there was a young male-female couple in my home. I invited them in and we sat down in the dining room. After some time several other people began to appear in the dining room. There were two young ladies who were quite friendly and they looked like people I knew yet different - I then realized they might actually be two versions of the same person and this led to a Reality Check. At this point I was determined to demonstrate to all of the people in the room that I was actually dreaming and I was going to do so by putting my hand through my hard wood floor. I was quite excited about it and was quite sure of myself and as I let my fingers sink into the floorboards I woke up. This seems to happen to me quite often. I get over excited and I then wake up. Any pointers?

Yeah, keep practicing. (Over-excitement is hazardous to your lucid dream life, try and keep a cool head when you first realize you're dreaming)

When you become lucid, just take some deep breaths and rub your hands together. It'll just help relax you while increasing the vividness.
