Fist of all I was in a hallway when I became lucid, but I wasn't very coherent and I didn't take the time to stabilize the dream and I lost it (my third lucid dream since getting back into it in november). Then I'm in complete darkness and I hear my Father ask me a question that I take the time to think about and aswer. The strange part is that when I hear people speak in dreams I don't actually hear any sound, I just know what they said, but in this instance I heard it crystal clear and there were no visuals at all. I thought at first that it might have been hypnogogia but the fact that I took the time to think about it and answer makes me wonder.

It definately wasn't that he actually asked the question and it filtered into a dream since I haven't lived at my Folks house in many years.

Any ideas?

Thanx,

Rich

It may be you have actually gone into that area of dream (if you want to classify it as that) where it is just darkness and you only hear sounds. I'm not sure if I have read about a name for this state of consciousness.

I remember reading that Ajaan Chah (He has passed away. He is of the Thai Forest Buddhist Tradition) had a similar experience when he was about to become Enlightened or had already been Enlightened. At that high spiritual level of his, he did not experience sleep like ordinary people. When he went to sleep, he no longer had any dreams. He just experienced a darkness. When he first had that experience, he wondered what it was during the experience itself (he was lucid), and a voice spoke to him explaining to him about his experience.

Perhaps you experienced something similar.

You might to check out this link. (I am not sure the incident I mentioned about Ajaan Chah is there)
