Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum, but not necessarily to LD'ing as I've been doing them for years. Anyway, I've really been trying hard to WILD now for a few weeks with only a little bit of success though, just split seconds of a dream and then being yanked instantly back to conciousness.
Anyway, I had my third such experience today while taking an afternoon nap, but the strangest thing happened. The small dream had me in front of a giant wooden door that, as the dream began, I was already in the act of pounding on. As my right hand swung, however, my right hand IN REAL LIFE swung with it, causing my whole body to swing almost out of bed and scaring the bejesus out of me.
I thought sleep paralysis was supposed to kick in at that point, no? How the heck did this happen? What really sucks is it probably would have been my first WILD if my swinging didn't wake me up. Really strange.
Thanks,
Jason

Sup, Jaymar? Welcome to Dream Views.
Well, the one thing I guess that you should consider is that: nothing is set in stone, when it comes to human physiology. There are always exceptions. Sleep paralysis, in theory, should have stopped you from acting out your dream, but it's been proven (through experience, for me) that dreams don't only happen during periods where your body is completely paralyzed. Not sure if you've ever had any experience with "residual dream senses," where you experience either sight, sound, touch, taste or feeling from a dream while your other senses are fully attuned to the waking world, but that's more than enough proof for me.
I've had experiences where I'll be sitting up in bed after waking from a dream and still either seeing or hearing what was going on in my dream, while I'm obviously attuned (through the rest of my senses) to the waking world.
You can really take nothing for granted when dealing with the human mind, ya know?

I hear ya. Overall this was a VERY strange experience today. It was the first time I tried the breathing method and, wow, did it help with concentration. At various points I really felt like I was falling through the bed as they say, while at the same time I heard the footsteps of my neighbors upstairs like they were right next to me. I really felt like I had one foot in and one foot out. Crazy weird.

maybe you were seeing hypnogogic imagery? Those can be pretty life like. And they happen before you hit sleep paralisis. Me, i dont even get sleep paralisis when i wild and when i dream.

Perhaps you´re right; I´m not really sure. I suppose that means I´m getting closer and closer, no? I´ll take that as a good sign.
