Last night, I had 3 dreams. One about cooking and a cupcake, one about somewhere in the ocean, and one about something I just forgot lol.
Anyway, this is my second night practising Lucid's I had one the first night, and now this. I realized somehow when I was on this beach that I was dreaming. I got that big adrenaline rush I normally do, but this time I calmed down. I then imagined myself behing this shack in the beach. I span around and imagined myself there and bam I was when I re-opened my eyes, but, at this time, I was so close to being awake, like I was holding my eyes shut. In the end I copped out and opened my eyes because it was to much of a strain.
What should I do to stop this from happening?

Usually when I come close to waking up, I tell myself not to and take a few seconds to relax. It works about 75% of the time, but some times I will lose lucidity from it.

As long as you are getting lucid reasonably frequently, time is the best stabilizer. The more LDs you have the more stable you will start becoming. While you may have calmed yourself down, it probably just wasn't enough to stay Lucid. To assist in this try stabilizing the dream (if you do a search you'll find some posts about this, Billybob_001 and ZenVortex have good instructions). Having a stable dream and keeping calm would help a lot.
