How Do You Define Lucid Dreams?

      Topic.

I always thought it ideally meant "the state of awareness and ability to control or influence dreams." I wonder, do any of you refer this to just "really vivid dreams?" I don't remember being aware of my waking state during a dream, but I so far just remember really clear dreams.

I just wanted to know if I was onto something. Thanks

A lucid dream is anytime during a dream when you pause and realize that it is a dream. Most people say "Hey this is a dream"

You do not need to be able to control it in any way. It doesn't have to be vivid. Most people usually only last a few seconds before waking their first time.

      Hope this helped!

      Lucid: Awareness.
      Dreaming: Consciousness during sleep.

That's the correct definition, yes the term 'lucid' is misleading.

      Those are just regular dreams.

A CLEAR, LUCID dream however, is the best.

I would say the first defination is the closest, although you don't necesarily have to have any control to be lucid.

The other type of dreams you are describing are just vivid dreams. If you do not realize that they are dreams then they are not considered lucid...

Control is just a plus that you have when you are lucid and it comes from the realization that you are conscious, and that there are no limits in the dream world. Kind of like realizing the matrix isn't real gives you the ability to do things you would be able to if you weren't.

From my understanding, there are 2 types of lucid dreams; High level and
low level. The low level is just that- a lower awareness during dreamtime that realises you're having a lucid dream but not aware enough to push the envelope and work things thru.

The high level is the higher awareness where you can control things in dream state.

At least that's how I understand it.

An example happened to me just last night when I went from low level to high level lucid dream.

I dreamed that I was an astronaut marooned on a planet with 5 others.
We were being chased by an invisible entity (No they weren't Apes) and we were running out of food. Anyway, the only one I recognised was John Astin- he played Gomez addams in The show "The Addams Family"

Anyway as the being approached I realised I was dreaming but I was scared and wanted the dream to end. SO I said to myself- "Addams home" and next thing I knew I was in the house of the "Addams Family" and from there I walked around the house and outside before waking up.

Now I kinda wish I hadn't chickened out of the first one.

The concept is not really that black/white extreme type, but rather has many shades of grey. Lucidity levels just indicate the amount of awareness, and therefore control, you have over your dream. The higher the level the more the control, obviously. There are some people here that can materialize objects or have thunder bolts drop from the sky at their command. That doesn't mean that they are high level lucidity, and all can do so as well if they have high level lucidity too. It really does vary for each person, and it also varies on the occasion.

In simple terms the higher the lucidity level the higher the control

There are two componant to realizing your goal:
      1) Desire
      2) Belief

You obviously have the desire, and you believe it can be done.
So, I expect you will have one soon!

I think some people try to define LUCID DREAMING to PASSIONATELY...they try very tirelessly to find some sort of 'hidden meaning', or 'higher power' behind it.

It just is. A gift. Use it.

      Great Responses.

But anyway, I can assume that more vivid dreams is getting closer to awareness in dreams.
